Choosing Your Perfect Luxy Set

  • How do I choose the right color of Highlights extensions?

    What is the Highlights collection?

Say goodbye to thick streaky highlights! We're excited to introduce a new color technique to our Seamless collection in 3 exclusive shades. The Highlights collection features thin highlights starting from the root straight through to the ends. This collection is designed to blend into hair that has already been highlighted, eliminating the need to get your hair extensions custom-dyed.

What weight does the Highlights Collection come in?

Luxy Hair Highlights extensions are available exclusively in our 20 inch 180g Seamless collection.

Do I need to have highlights in my hair?

Yes, we recommend this collection for those who already have highlights in their hair as it will complement your existing highlights.

Those with a solid hair color can opt for this collection as well since it will add dimension to your hair, however, please keep in mind the highlights will be very subtle. If you have a solid hair color, we recommend you check out our Balayage collection.

What is the difference between the Highlight and Balayage collections?

The Highlights collection features thin highlights starting from the root straight through to the ends. This collection is designed to blend into hair that has already been highlighted, eliminating the need to get your hair extensions custom-dyed. This is great for those looking to further accentuate their highlights.

The Balayage collection features hand-painted highlights that start 6 inches from the root with darker pieces left at the bottom to give the hair that extra depth and dimension. This collection is great for those who have a solid hair color and are looking for a damage-free way to add sun-kissed dimension to their hair.

I have short hair. Can I wear the Highlight collection?

Those with solid colored short hair (shoulder to chin length) will not benefit from this collection. Instead, we encourage you to look into our Balayage collection to add sun-kissed dimension to your hair. If you have short hair with highlights, you can wear the Highlights collection. How do I match my hair to the right shade?

In order for your Luxy Hair 180g Seamless Highlights extensions to blend, we recommend ensuring that your hair matches the base color of the extensions.

  • How do I choose between clip-in and Halo extensions?

Halo extensions are a lower maintenance alternative to our clip-in extensions. Instead of having to clip in multiple wefts to ensure a seamless blend, all you need to do is apply the Halo and two 2-clip wefts to the side of your temples in a matter of seconds. Halo extensions are also great for those with thin and fragile hair and for those who have a sensitive scalp and find it hard wearing clip-in extensions.

While both clip-in and halo extensions deliver the same beautiful results, the main difference lies in the difference in application techniques. For example, do you enjoy spending extra time on your hair or are you looking for a quicker solution to longer, fuller hair? Do you enjoy wearing your hair in different styles such as ponytails and updos or do you enjoy wearing your hair down for the most part? At the end of the day, it’s all about personal preference and what works best for you. Check out our comparison chart below to determine which extensions are best for you.

  • What is the difference between Classic and Seamless hair extensions?

If you're new to the world of clip-in hair extensions and are looking to figure out how to choose between our Classic and Seamless hair extensions, you've come to the right place. In this support article, we'll clarify the difference between these two collections so you can make a confident buying decision.

Here is a comparison chart between the two collections:

    Luxy Hair Clip-In Extensions
    Our Classic Collection

Our Classic extensions are the first type of clip-in hair extensions that Luxy Hair designed and launched. They are made of a fabric-stitched weft and are offered in a variety of different weights to cater to every hair type.

    Classic Features

    • Made with a fabric-stitched weft base
    • Offered in a 120g, 160g, and 220g weight
    • Offered in a 16 & 20-inch length
    • Made of 100% remy human high-quality hair
    • Can withstand heat, and dye

    Should I Choose Classic Extensions?

Our Classic Collection is good for you if:

    • You have lots of hair strands, medium-thick short hair, or a blunt haircut
    • You prefer more volume at your roots
    • You plan to use them for ponytails or updos
    • You plan to dye the extensions (the fabric can be dyed)

    Our Seamless Collection

Our Seamless extensions are a part of a new collection Luxy Hair launched in 2017. They're similar to our 160 gram Classic set, however, they have more hair attached to each weft making the full set slightly thicker. They are made with a thin silicone-weft base that lays flat against your head.

    Seamless Features

    Should I Choose Seamless Extensions?

Our Seamless Collection is good for you if:

    • Have fine & short hair or have a fine - medium hair type with an average amount of hair
    • You want a more natural look with less volume at the root
    • You have highlighted hair

  • What lengths do you offer, and what do they look like on?

Clip-in Luxy Hair extensions are available in our new 16" Classic collection, as well as our standard 20" Classic & Seamless collections. We also offer a longer length in our 24" Seamless Blonde Balayage set. Our Halo extensions come in a standard length of 20 inches.

Why do they look longer on some people and shorter on others?

Great question! This is because Luxy Hair extensions will appear different in length on every person, as we all have different torso lengths. If you have a longer torso or are quite tall, Luxies will appear shorter on you. If you are more petite or have a shorter torso, Luxies will appear longer on you.

How long will Luxy Hair extensions be on me?

In order to determine how long Luxies will be on you, we recommend measuring either 16 inches or 20 inches down from the top of your ear with a measuring tape, as most wefts will be applied around the crown of your head.

What if Luxy Hair extensions are too long on me?

Since Luxies are made of 100% remy human hair, they can be cut or trimmed to any desired length by an experienced hair stylist if you are interested in a shorter length. If you decide to get them cut, we recommend having them already clipped into your hair during the haircut. We also recommend coming up with a numbering system for the wefts, so that you know exactly where each weft is supposed to be clipped in for the future uses.

What if I want a longer length?

If you have medium blonde hair, you can opt for our exclusive 24" Seamless Blonde Balayage set. At this time, Luxy Hair does not offer a longer length collection, however, we are always open to feedback. Should you be interested in a length, color, or other option for hair extensions that we don't currently carry, kindly send us an email at info@luxyhair.com, and we'll be happy to keep your suggestion in mind for future product considerations.

  • Luxy Hair Color Guide: How do I choose the right color of hair extensions?

Luxy Hair extensions are offered in 32 beautiful colors ranging from Jet Black to Platinum Blonde, and from Ombre to Balayage. Our extensions are made with a multi-tonal adapt coloring system, which means that there are subtle highlights and lowlights, lighter strands and darker strands throughout each set. This gives the shades movement, dimension, and depth. It also ensures that the extensions blend with your natural hair even if your hair color is a few shades off.

Below is a comparison guide that shows the level and undertone of each of our Luxy Hair colors. It also offers a general comparison to popular hair dyes on the market.

Disclaimer: We do not guarantee an exact match when dyeing your natural hair to match your Luxies. Applying a certain hair dye can yield different results depending on the starting color of someone's hair (and other factors). We recommend having your hair dyed by a professional. If, however, you choose to do it yourself, a test strand is always recommended.

Need help deciding between colors? Want to see these shades in action?

What if I'm not sure which color to choose?

Each full set of Clip-In & Halo extensions includes a tester weft. You can use this weft to compare it to your own hair before committing to the full set. We offer 60-day returns and exchanges if the color doesn't match. We support you!

  • How do I choose the right color of Balayage extensions?

    What is Balayage?

Balayage means to "paint" or "sweep"— it's a dying process that results in natural-looking highlights. There is no clear fade line between the darker and lighter colors like with our Ombre shades. As well, darker pieces are left at the bottom to give the hair that extra depth and dimension.

Do I need to have Balayage or highlights in my hair?

No, your hair can be a solid shade! Balayage extensions are a damage-free way to add sun-kissed dimension to your hair.

      Have Questions?

I have Ombre/highlights in my hair. Can I still wear Balayage?

Yes. Balayage extensions will blend even if you have Ombre or highlights in your hair. If you have Ombre, the Balayage extensions will add more color and dimension higher up. If you have highlights, the Balayage extensions will add more color towards the ends.

What if I have short hair?

For best results, your hair should be about 6-7 inches in length for the extensions to blend naturally (that's about shoulder length) & a solid color. To learn about which set to pick, click here.

How far down the weft do the Balayage highlights start?

The Balayage highlights start 6 inches from the base of the weft.

      What if I want a shorter/longer length?

At this time, the Balayage shades come in 20 inches, however, we do offer a longer length in our 24" Seamless Blonde Balayage set. Since Luxies are made of 100% remy human hair, however, they can be cut or trimmed to any desired length by an experienced hair stylist if you are interested in a shorter length.

We're always open to feedback! Should you be interested in a specific length that we don't currently carry, kindly send us an email at info@luxyhair.com and we'll be happy to share your suggestion with our Product Development team for future consideration.

    • How do I choose the right color of Ombre extensions?

      What is Ombre?

Ombré is a French word, which means "shadow"—it's a process that dyes the hair in a gradation from dark to light. The outcome is usually darker hair from the roots to the mid-shaft and a transition to a lighter color from the mid-shaft through to the ends. With Ombré, there is a noticeable color blocking from dark to light, with a smooth transition in between. This technique is meant to look like the hair has been dip-dyed.

How do I match my hair to the right shade?

In order for your Luxy Hair Ombre extensions to blend, we recommend ensuring that your hair matches the root color of the extensions. To determine the right match for you, please read below.

Or try mixing both shades together!

This gives you the ability to customize the look you’re trying to achieve. This creates more of a highlighted, balayage effect, especially once the different layers of extensions are curled and twisted together. Luxy Hair extensions are dyed with a multi-tonal adapt coloring system, which means that there are subtle highlights and lowlights, lighter strands and darker strands throughout each set. This produces a multi-dimensional look, making them blend seamlessly together and effortless to layer.

Layering Ombre Chestnut with Ombre Blonde works beautifully. Ombre Chestnut is a combination of deep browns, and lighter golden browns, which blend seamlessly with Ombre Blonde which features red, brown and golden undertones. The key when layering extensions is to ensure the sets are in the same color family and overlap in undertones for a perfect blend.

        FAQ

I have a solid hair color. Can I still wear Ombre?

Yes, your hair can be a solid shade! Ombre extensions are a damage-free way to add brightness to your hair color.

Will it blend if I have short hair?

Yes - we recommend that your hair is at least 9 inches or shorter and that your hair color is a solid shade from root to end. This is because the transition of the Ombre starts 9 inches down the length of each weft. If you have lighter pieces, the extensions will be noticeable and hard to blend. To learn about which weight set to opt for, click here.

Will it blend if I have thick and long hair?

Yes - our Ombre extensions will look like subtle highlights in your hair instead of a noticeable color blocking at the ends. We encourage you to opt for the 20” Classic Clip-in Volume Bundle.

How far down the weft does the Ombre start?

The Ombre transition starts 9 inches from the base of the weft.

        • How do I choose the right Luxy Hair set?

Here we will answer some of the most frequently asked questions about how to choose the right set Luxy Hair extensions.

How do I choose between clip-in and Halo extensions?

Halo extensions are a lower maintenance alternative to our clip-in extensions. Instead of having to clip in multiple wefts to ensure a seamless blend, all you need to do is apply the Halo and two 2-clip wefts to the side of your temples in a matter of seconds. Halo extensions are also great for those with thin and fragile hair and for those who have a sensitive scalp and find it hard wearing clip-in extensions. They are best for those who have below shoulder length hair and have a thin or medium hair type.

While both clip-in and halo extensions deliver the same beautiful results, the main difference lies in the difference in application techniques. Click here to check out our comparison chart and to learn about which extensions are best for you.

What is the difference between all of the different weights?

All clip-in Luxy Hair extensions are sold in a full head set (9-10 wefts depending on the weight) and are made of the same high-quality 100% remy human hair. The only difference between each set is the weight. The higher the grams, the more hair that is attached to each weft. The individual strands themselves will remain consistent in thickness.

Kindly note, the 16" Classic 140g set has the same density as the 20" Classic 160g set but is less in weight due to the shorter length. Also, the 24" Seamless Blonde Balayage set is the same density as the 20" Seamless Blonde Balayage set, however, it is heavier due to the longer length.

Our Halo extensions are sold in a 3 piece set and are also made of the same high-quality grade 100% remy human hair. The weight of the full Halo set is 180g. This includes one Halo weft (140g) and two additional 2-clip wefts (20g each) to help blend face-framing pieces.

What is the difference between the Classic and Seamless collections?

Seamless clip-in Luxy Hair extensions are made with a thin silicone-based weft that lays flat against your head. For more information, please visit this helpful support article.

How many pieces come in each set?

Our 20" Halo extensions have a total of 3 pieces:

          • 1 x Halo weft (12")
          • 2 x 2-clip wefts (4")

          Our 20" 120g & 16" 140g sets have a total of 9 pieces:

          • 1 x 4-clip weft (8")
          • 2 x 3-clip wefts (6")
          • 2 x 2-clip wefts (4")
          • 4 x 1-clip wefts (1")

          Our 20" 160g, 180g, 220g, & 24" 220g sets have a total of 10 pieces

          • 1 x 4-clip weft (8")
          • 1 x 4-clip weft (7")
          • 2 x 3-clip wefts (6")
          • 2 x 2-clip wefts (4")
          • 4 x 1-clip wefts (1")

          * The 120g & 140g sets have one 4-clip weft whereas the 160g, 180g & 220g have two.

          What lengths do you offer?

Clip -in Luxy Hair extensions are available in our new 16" Classic collection, as well as our standard 20" Classic & Seamless collections. We also offer a longer length in our 24" Seamless Blonde Balayage set. Our Halo extensions come in a standard length of 20 inches. To see what these lengths will look like on you, click here.

Do you offer curly or wavy hair extensions?

No, we do not offer pre-curled/waved hair extensions at this time. Since Luxies are made of 100% remy human hair, however, they can be styled to curls or waves using hot tools. Here is a super helpful tutorial by our lovely friend, India, who shows how to blend extensions with her naturally curly hair.

You can also air dry your extensions overnight (in a braid, for instance), and when you wake up and clip in your set you will have gorgeous, beachy waves ready to go. Plus, you can also experiment with different curl patterns without having to buy an array of curling wands. Find out 4 ways to air dry your extensions.

How do I choose the right color of extensions?

Luxy Hair extensions are offered in 24 beautiful colors ranging from Jet Black to Platinum Blonde, and from Ombre to Balayage. We offer 60-day returns if the color doesn't match. We support you! Please check out our Luxy Hair Color Guide for more information on choosing your perfect Luxy color.

I’m not sure which clip-in set is best for me - how do I choose?

I have short hair. Which set should I pick?

Which set you opt for will depend on if you are looking for volume or volume and length. For more information, check out this helpful support article.
