We are sitting down with Brigette (@acquiredstyle) to discuss all things hair, how she became Tiktok famous and her new hair roller collaboration with Luxy!
What does your morning routine look like?
I recently decided to quit my full time job and work for myself instead as a content creator so it’s very important that I keep myself on a schedule and be organized since I am now my own boss.
The first thing I do in the morning is drink my coffee and then fill out my to-do list for the day. I try to workout in the morning at least three times a week.
Describe your current hair care regime.
Since I use a lot of heat on my hair I try my best to be kind to my hair. What I mean by that is, I always use a heat protectant! Also I try not to wash my hair everyday although it is hard because my hair gets very greasy quickly. To keep my hair hydrated I’ll use a hair mask 2-3 times a week to prevent and repair damage.
When did you start using hair rollers and why?
I love this question because I remember this so clearly! During the pandemic my sister one day brought home a pack of hair rollers from the drugstore and she said, “We have to try these.'' In the beginning I wasn’t that excited but then one day I decided to give them a shot. The first time I used them I didn't necessarily love the outcome but I made it my mission to perfect them.
I realized then that there weren’t many hair roller tutorials or ‘how to’ videos online on how to perfect these hair rollers since they were considered retro. So I practiced and practiced, and eventually got the hang of it! And while doing that I documented my love for hair rollers over on my Tiktok page @ acquiredstyle
What’s your favorite or go to hair hack?
When I was little my mom used to style my hair in french braids before bed time. It was a nice little ritual we had and I would wake up in the morning with the perfect beach crimp waves. It’s my favorite hair hack to this day.
We had to ask since this is a major debate on #HairTok. Are you team side part or center part?
I am team flip-your-hair-all-day so you have no set part! ;)
Walk us through the process of creating your very own hair rollers with Luxy.
This whole process has been so exciting. When I had my first meeting with the team, the call was initially about working together on a “longer term basis” but when the team proposed the idea of me getting to create my own hair rollers and sell them, I freaked out!
It took about 7 months to plan and conceptualize. Working with the Luxy Hair team has been a dream. They gave me so much creative freedom with the product and we worked very closely together to bring this to life- everything from quality to size to color.
The three most important things to me were the quality of the roller, having a mini roller (an XS size roller for my ladies with layers and bangs) and having clips to keep your rollers in place. Luxy has been amazing with helping me bring this all to life.
What are some of your favorite beauty products right now?
Hair rollers are of course my number one. But I also love a good face serum, self tanner and eye patches. I’m also loving the Dior Lip Oil at the moment and the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner.
What summer hair trends are you looking forward to?
I have been loving playing around with those little clear rubber bands. So many fun hair styles can be made with those like bubble ponytails or just baby braids.
What’s your life motto?
Live life today because you can’t live today tomorrow.
If you could pick three Luxy products to take on a deserted island with you, which would they be?
They would be my hair rollers, the one inch curling wand and their new Luminous Shine Hair Oil.Who is your favorite celebrity style inspo and why?
I am currently obsessed with the Swedish model, Elsa Hosk. Her style is so chic yet on trend. She always stays true to herself and her style displays so much confidence.
What are your three most commonly used emojis?
❤️ 😘 💇
Tell us something most of your fans don’t know about you.
I don’t think a lot of people know that I am half Australian. That would be news to them! What do you love about living in New York?
I love how New York City is full of new opportunities and is never boring. Some of my favorite spots are Jack’s Coffee, Bubby’s for brunch and Mamo in Soho is my favorite restaurant for dinner.
Where can we see you next?
I will be at the Allure store in New York on June 23rd to promote my Luxy Hair velcro roller collab! Very excited to meet everyone there and celebrate this milestone.
