Alysha first came across Luxy Hair and clip-in hair extensions all the way back in 2012 after a bad haircut and has been hooked ever since! After getting stalked on social media by ads and job postings for the Operations Manager role, she couldn't ignore the signs. Coming from a consulting background, Alysha says she was excited to explore the other side of eCommerce as a seller. From the close team culture, to the opportunity to make a difference and help other women feel beautiful, Alysha knew she belonged at Luxy Hair!
I manage the entire Supply Chain journey from placing of an order with our vendors to final receipt by our customers. I also work on improving, strategizing, brainstorming and innovating our processes to make this journey and experience as easy and pleasant as possible for all our customers. The focus is always on evolving our future state based on customer needs and determining how we can get there.
What does a typical day at the office look like for you?
A typical day starts with a strong iced coffee and diving right into any outstanding emails or concerns from our vendors and our parent company. Following this, I generally look at our inventory and backorder reports to provide any updates to our Customer Experience team for updates to backorder dates. I am then usually in between meetings, 1x1s with Customer Experience and Product teams and brainstorming strategic initiatives and improvements to business operations overall. I also maintain close contact with our Warehousing team in Utah, to ensure that any issues within the order fulfillment process are being addressed and resolved in a timely manner. Overall, I deal with a great number of stakeholders day to day, which I thoroughly enjoy and value as part of my role!
What do most people think your job is? What do you actually do?
My best friend likes to tell people “I sell hair for a living” and to be honest that is a part of it, BUT, a lot of my role focuses on making our business a seamless experience for all customers from the beginning of the Supply Chain (ordering products from vendors) to the end (following up with customers once they’ve received their package). I deal with everything and anything within this process of the customer journey and what I love is that everyday I get a chance to think of ways to improve and innovate with various teams at Luxy Hair.
What has been your career trajectory so far? Why did you decide to work at Luxy Hair?
Following my dual degree undergraduate program at Western (Business & Health Sciences), I spent 5 years at Deloitte in Strategy & Operations Transformation Management Consulting exploring the industries of financial services, health and the public sector. When I took the next step in my career to complete my MBA, I knew I wanted to get into an industry that truly allowed me to make an impact and directly change the lives of others.
I began to list out what I was truly passionate about and what type of work I could see myself doing and really trying to draw parallels between these two categories. I started doing some research online, networking with my contacts and through LinkedIn and Instagram, it was here I found a posting for Operations Manager at Luxy Hair. Once I read the role description and expectations, I had this gut feeling that this position was meant for me and I am so glad I took the plunge. I wake up every morning excited to work and dream and I am so grateful to have such a great team to collaborate with and innovate with every single day.
