Have you ever woken up on one of those bitter winter mornings only to discover that your hair is full of static, frizz and completely unmanageable? On days like this many of us simply opt for throwing our hair into a messy bun and rushing out the door, but we're here to help you change your ways and liven up your hair routine!

It’s easy to get in a rut when it comes to our hair during these chilly winter months, but luckily, we have found the perfect solution for anyone who is lacking inspiration for unruly winter tresses: ACCESSORIES. Whether it be the latest trendy hat or a classic girly ribbon, accessories can seriously elevate an outfit while also providing a foolproof solution to taming wild winter locks. Never underestimate the power of a good hair accessory, lovelies.

For all the beautiful Luxy ladies in need of a mid-winter pick me up for their hair, not to fret, we got you covered. Follow along for eight of our must-have hair accessories for the winter along with our favourite tips and tricks to styling them:

1) Baker Boy Hats

The baker boy hat has blown up our Instagram feeds this season, and for good reason! This adorable little hat makes any outfit appear instantly trendier, even a look as simple as a plain white tee and jeans. If you’re hesitant about this trend, simply think of it as an elevated and girlier take on a classic baseball cap. Not only is the baker boy hat one of the season’s key trends, but it also doubles as the perfect hair accessory for camouflaging second or third day hair. Trust us, you need a baker boy hat in your life!

How to Style:

Our absolute favourite way to style this winter hair accessory is with a low bun or messy ponytail. It gives your look an effortless and edgy vibe, yet you still appear totally put together and chic. Be sure to check out our tutorial for three of our favourite ways to style a messy bun for inspiration!

2) Geometric Hair Clips

Geometric hair clips are the lazy girl’s hack to instantly fabulous hair! Owning a geometric clip or two can be a serious game changer in the morning and has the ability to transform messy, unruly hair into a chic half-up look that takes minimal effort. We’re absolutely positive you’ll receive compliments wearing a hairpiece this unique - and of course, we can’t forget to mention how adorable this minimalist piece will look on your Instagram feed!

How to Style:

Our go-to style when it comes to metal hair accessories is an elegant and sweeping half-up style. If your hair tends to be on the thin side, half-up styles are the perfect chance to use Luxy Hair extensions! Simply clip 2-3 wefts near the nape of your neck and sweep half the hair into a twist using the geometric clip.

3) Beret

The beret is your cold weather go-to this season and has blown up the fashion world as the next must-have hair accessory! There’s a beret out there for everyone – we’ve seen everything from basic black to bold red or even pink with pearls. Not only do berets keep your head warm and keep you looking super stylish, but they also hide a frizzy hair day in an instant!

How to Style:

You could essentially style your hair in any way while wearing the versatile beret, but our personal favorite is romantic, voluminous waves. First, clip in your Luxy Hair extensions for added volume and body, then simply curl your hair from root to tip and allow the curls to cool. Once fully cooled, run your fingers through to create a softer wave and a blended look.

4) Glitzy Bow

A glitzy bow is surprisingly much more versatile than you’d initially think! It’s obviously stunning for a special occasion, such as the holidays or on a special date night, but it can also dress up a basic, neutral outfit by adding a touch of girly sparkle.

How to Style:

Our favorite way to rock a glitzy bow is a loose, elegant half-up twist. Simply pull the hair from the front and crown of your head into a ponytail at the midway point of the back of your head and fasten with a hair elastic. To hide the elastic, clip or tie the bow on top.

5) Pom Pom Hat

For all our cold weather babes, look no further than the pom pom hat for your extra warm yet still chic winter hair accessory. Pom pom hats can be totally personalized and come in a huge variety of styles such as ones with adorable double pom poms or even faux fur-inspired looks.

How to Style:

Our personal favorite way to wear a pom pom hat is with a classic double braid look. This look is perfect for second or third day hair and looks even more chic when paired with our favourite pom pom winter hair accessory! Be sure to add Luxy Hair extensions to give your braids a thick, voluminous look. Check out our tutorial for creating double dutch braids with hair extensions for even more tips and tricks to master this style!

6) Velvet Ribbon

Velvet is a huge trend in the world of fashion this winter, so why not translate the trend into your hairstyles as well? We absolutely love the look of a velvet ribbon! There is something so timeless and girly about a classic ribbon, but the added detail of the velvet makes the style trendy and modern.

How to Style:

Our favourite way to style the velvet ribbon is with an elegant and sleek low ponytail! Simply smooth your hair at the top and sweep into a ponytail at the nape of your neck. For added thickness and length, be sure to clip in Luxy Hair extensions. Lastly, wrap the ribbon around the base of the ponytail to cover the hair elastic.

7) Ear Muffs

As much as we love our go-to winter hats, sometimes they just aren’t feasible on days we need our locks to stay sleek and shiny! Luckily, earmuffs will be your best friend on winter days when you’re trying to avoid the inevitable frizz of hat-head. Earmuffs are an adorable way to keep you just as warm as a hat would, yet still keep your locks looking fresh, shiny and best of all – staying in place!

How to Style:

Our favorite way to style earmuffs is with natural, loose waves. Simply curl your hair with a larger sized barrel and leave 1-2 inches out at the end of the curl to create a beach wave effect. Check out our tutorial for Victoria Secret bombshell waves here to achieve the look!

8) Pearl Details

Pearls are one of our favourite runway trends this season. We love how dainty and feminine pearl detailing looks on a knit sweater, denim, and yes, even in your hair! Pearl hair clips are the perfect extra touch for a special occasion throughout the winter, whether it is a wedding or a formal family gathering. We love how pearls can dress up a look and make it look like a lot of effort was involved when in reality all it takes is a few simple clips.
