Since hair extensions do not receive natural oils from the scalp like our own hair, they do not need to be washed as often. We suggest only washing your Luxies every 15-20 wears or when there is too much product build-up and they become unmanageable to style. Please keep in mind that the less you wash your Luxies, the longer they will last you.
It is highly recommended to use sulfate-free and alcohol-free hair products, as these ingredients can dry the hair out. We also recommend to frequently use a deep conditioning mask for at least 4-6 hours (or overnight) after washing your Luxies, as this will help retain moisture and keep the hair smooth and silky. It's also good to use hair masks on your extensions every now and again to ensure they remain nourished and healthy. Click here for a blog post on our top 5 DIY hair masks.
You can wash your Luxy Hair extensions the same way you would your own hair. Always use shampoo first and then apply a generous amount of conditioner from top to bottom. The best way to dry your hair extensions is to lay them flat on a clean towel and let them air dry. You can watch our tutorial on how to wash Luxy Hair extensions below.
