Just because your hairstyle looks complicated, doesn't mean it has to be complicated to create! 

This week, we have our short haired ladies in mind and have teamed up with our friend Marta, to bring you our favorite back to school hairstyles for short hair. When late nights turn into early mornings and you need to rush to class, these short hairstyles will be just what you need to bring the cool back to school. Hairstyle 1: double hidden ponytail

While having short hair has its advantages (low maintenance and edgy vibe), it can be a bit of a downfall when you simply want to throw your hair into a ponytail. If you have short hair, you'll know the struggle of tying your hair up, only to have pesky short pieces fall out at the bottom. Here's a hack to not only fix that problem, but also create a full, bouncy ponytail without the use of hair extensions!

Step 1: Gather the top half of your hair into a half ponytail.

Step 2: Gather the bottom half of your into a ponytail.

Step 3. With a teasing brush, tease both the ponytails into each other, and that's it! A quick hack to create a longer, fully ponytail with short hair!

Hairstyle 2: flirty pigtails

Who said college girls can't wear pigtails? If done correctly, pigtails can be a fun, flirty hairstyle to wear on a night out, for a sorority rush event, or just to keep things fun for class.

Step 1: Start by parting your hair down the middle. Then, gather the hair one one side from your ear level into a high ponytail, securing with a small, clear elastic.

Step 2: Do the same on the other side.

Step 3: If your hair is not already curled at this point, the pigtails may look a bit flat, so spice them up by adding in sporadic curls throughout the pigtails as well as any loose hair. Then, run your fingers through your hair to break up the curls and add volume throughout.

Step 4: Tighten each pigtail at the roots to give them extra lift and bounce.

This hairstyle gives us total Baby Spice vibes and we're definitely digging it! 

Hairstyle 3: topsy tail braid

This hairstyle is perfect for second or third day hair, when you need your hair out of your face, or even as a gym hairstyle...after all, you never know when you could run into that cutie from Psych 101! The key to this hairstyle is to master the art of the topsy tail, which instantly turns any ponytail into a eye catching statement.

Step 1: Gather the top half of your hair into a half ponytail.

Step 2: Now for the topsy tail. Separate the half ponytail you just created right above the elastic, then flip the ponytail, thread it through the hole, and pull to tighten.

Step 3: Now, gather a second section of hair until about the nap of your neck, and create another topsy tail.

Step 4: Gather the rest of your hair into a third and final ponytail, and create a third topsy tail.

Step 5: Curl any pieces of hair in the front, or you can choose to pin them back.

That's it! You've now created a beautiful topsy tail braid in just four steps!
