Get ready to dazzle with the Side Part Sleek Ponytail, a perfect blend of simplicity and glamour. First, part your hair to the side and use a non-crease clip for your side bang. Smooth your hair with our Luminous Shine Hair Oil or Length Repairing Hair Mask, using a bristle brush to tame any flyaways. Secure it with our Gravity Defying Hair Ties. Now, the magic begins! Attach your Ponytail Clip-In at the base of your ponytail for extra length and volume. Release your side bang, give it a loose curl, and finish with a mist of hairspray. There you have it – an effortlessly chic holiday hairstyle that's ready to shine at any celebration, radiating confidence and glamour.
Elevate your style with the timeless charm of the High Bun Updo, made easy with Luxy Hair Clip-In Extensions. Start by sectioning the bottom of your hair and clipping in Seamless or Classic Clip-In Extensions for volume. Once you've achieved your desired fullness, gather your hair into a loose ponytail, twisting it upwards to form a bun on the right side. Secure the bun with bobby pins and then get creative! Take 1-inch pieces from the left side, twist them into small circles, and pin them around the bun. Finish with hairspray, and there you have it – a stunning High Bun Updo, oozing elegance and grace for a festive celebration.
Bring a touch of magic to your holiday look with the Side Part Braid, blending volume and texture effortlessly. Start by parting your hair deeply on one side and add Luxy Hair Halo Hair Extensions for that extra flair. Once you've achieved fullness, add loose curls using your favorite curler. Now, let's braid! Take a 2-inch piece from the parted side, divide it into three, and begin braiding. As you go, add hair for a French braid effect, incorporating strands until you reach your ear. Secure with an elastic, mist with hairspray, and gently pull out a few strands for that artfully undone charm. This enchanting side braid is your ticket to a festive and effortlessly chic holiday look.
Spread holiday cheer with the Half Up Half Down with Bows – a sweet and charming look made easy with Luxy Hair Extensions. Clip in your Seamless or Classic Extensions for added lushness, then secure the top section into a half-up, half-down style. Complete the look with a bow for that irresistibly adorable and festive touch. This playful style is the epitome of bow-tiful brilliance, allowing you to effortlessly bring joy to the holiday season without spending hours in front of the mirror.

Following Sofia Richie Grainge’s wedding, or should we say, the Royal wedding, all bride-to-be’s started immediately pinning low sleek buns to their wedding inspiration boards. This Low sleek bun that’s gracefully pulled back not only gives a clean, timeless look but also allows your face to be the center of attention! The middle part pairs perfectly with the soft, yet slicked back hair to form a neat timeless style that can easily be paired with any veil. We love using our Clip-In bun to get the fullness needed for the perfect wedding day look.
Curls are not only a wedding day hair staple but they will never go out of style. If curls are your thing, we love pairing our 20” classic extensions with our bridal wardrobe to get the full voluminous effect.
Mixing in braids with loose waves or curls can add that extra dimension some brides may desire. Braids can be incorporated into just about any hairstyle but one of our favorites to style with is the braided half up half down style. Although you don’t have to be a boho bride for this classic, we think this pairs beautifully with flowy wedding dresses and outdoor venues!
All over our feeds this past year have been loose, voluminous tousled waves that are ever so slightly noticeable. Think Jen Atkin styled waves that each cascade in meticulous synchronization without looking like they were perfectly placed. This modern day curled style gives the effortless, clean girl look while still reading bridal and fancy. Perfect for any occasion, anywhere. This style can easily be achieved with a Curling Wand and our Wide Tooth Cloud Comb!
Everyone knows that for a bride, a wedding starts from the crack of dawn, and goes to the early hours of the morning! If you plan on having a long wedding day (i.e. a ceremony in the early afternoon and a late reception) your hair needs to stay up with you! To ensure your hair doesn’t fall or frizz, we love a classic up-do for our party brides! To make your bridal up-do modern we suggest going for a Pam Anderson inspired, effortless up-do! This way your hair is secure, and you’re on trend while being able to let loose and not worry if a piece or two falls out!
Modern and sophisticated brides look no further than a beautiful, voluminous low-to mid ponytail style! We are in absolute awe over voluminous ponytails on our Luxy brides! Try using the Luxy Hair 20” Clip-In Ponytail for the extra fullness, and hold for your big day! Whether you choose to have your ponytail curled, waved or straight it's sure to look classy and fun!
Flip through a bridal magazine and you’ll be sure to cross this favorite bridal style! Classic Old Hollywood waves will always be a Bridal go-to. Think full, lush curls that spiral inward and outward on either side. For this style we suggest using our Classic Collection Clip-In extensions for the extra fullness and hold!
If “can’t help falling in love” is your wedding theme song then this bridal hairstyle may be for you. A soft, natural look that allows your love to shine through your glam for the day — the bridal blowout! We love using Kim Kardashian’s wedding to Kanye West as our inspiration for this look. Try sectioning your front pieces to be softly tucked behind your ears and loosely round brush your luscious locks ends. This soft style will give your groom all the fuzzy feels!
Embracing your natural hair texture and curls couldn’t be more beautiful on your big day! We are loving this organic and natural style brides are choosing to wear. Whether you have natural curls or waves we love pairing this style with beautiful hair accessories like flower crowns, bridal headbands or pins to add that extra something!

Wearing your hair down after getting a fresh blowout with our Acquired Style Rollers might make you feel fun, fresh and ready to take on those Zoom meetings, while wearing your hair in a tight ponytail with our Clip-In Ponytail might make you feel powerful with a boost of confidence. How you wear your hair is part of your identity and it shares who you are with the world. Here are some examples of how hair can change your persona:
A classic way of wearing your hair is to wear it down, with its natural movement and texture. Wearing your hair down is the simplest way to look fresh, and it’s hassle free. You may think that wearing your hair down doesn’t have an effect on your identity, but it totally can! Having your hair down with layers, using our Seamless Clip-Ins, can allude to the fact that you’re relaxed, ready to have fun and easy going, while tucking your hair behind your ears may indicate that you’re focused and engaged with whatever you’re doing. Even the smallest changes to your styling can change the whole impression of your look.

Sometimes you don’t want to style your hair (we get it). You could rock a slicked back bun, using our Clip-In Bun, or a high ponytail with our Clip-In Ponytail.
When you wear your hair slicked back, it can give the illusion that you’re polished and sophisticated. You are a girlboss, you’ve got places to be and people to see. This style makes it easier for you to get that checklist done, while looking chic and you need your hair out of your face because you’re focused on your day to day tasks. Messy buns on the other hand can be interpreted as easy going, laid back and relaxed.
Ponytails are another classic style that can alter your look all together. If you’re using our Clip-In Ponytail, you are practical and want a style that is easy to put together but still looks fabulous for any occasion. It’s simple but it gets the job done (and it looks great).

We’ve all had those moments where we chop our hair off, instantly regretting it but getting compliments that we’ve never heard before. Fresh bob cuts are without a doubt very chic, unlocking your inner runway persona. They are Parisienne - full of style, elegance and radiate sophistication. In those regrettable moments where you miss your 24” mermaid hair, you can style your hair with 24” Classic Clip-Ins to fulfill your long hair goals. Longer hair can be attributed to a carefree and vibrant attitude. Whether it’s straight or crimped, long hair can give the perception that you are playful, trendy and like to test out different styles.

Taking the plunge to dye your hair is a commitment and is the most impactful way to change your overall image. We’ve all seen the Tiktok trend of celebrities with different hair colors and their “eras”. For example, Gigi Hadid with Dirty Blonde locks is her cute girl next door era, while her ice blonde hair is pure high fashion. Miley Cyrus with Bronde Balayage in 2012 was the “it girl” shade, perceived as approachable and sweet, while her Gemini Hair in Platinum and Off-Black radiates punk and “cool-girl”. Your hair shade can unlock different versions of you, thus unlocking how people around you perceive who you are.
Overall, your hairstyle can change your entire look. The viral Tiktok trend #HairTheory definitely has some truth to it and we can admit that a slicked back bun does give off a different energy than a fresh blowout. That being said, there is a bigger conversation to be had regarding Hair Theory. The tiktok trend has garnered more attention, and with that there is more to uncover regarding the relationship between the way you style your hair and how you are perceived. How you style your hair is a reflection of YOUR identity, so by all means, wear your hair however YOU want to! Hair is a form of self expression - our advice is to style your hair in whatever ways make you happy. Whether it’s with Clip-Ins, in a Ponytail or in space buns with Tinsel, do you.]]>@glowbabey Darker hair suits her better🥺 . . . . . . . . . . #gigihadid #blondegigi #fyp #foryoupage #fypシ #bellahadid #zaynmalik #hairstyles #victoriassecret ♬ original sound - Hermoine
Coming in strong as the most versatile hairstyle that’s a festival favorite is the famous half up half down pigtails. One of our favorite looks for festivals because of the many options it gives. We love adding in our 16" or 20" Seamless Extensions to this hairstyle to give extra length and fullness. Using this style as a base and adding different elements to it with braids, buns, and tinsel extensions makes it a top choice for festival goers. We love pairing half up half down pigtails with braids for festivals as it's the perfect combo of fun and practical. You can also try half up half down space buns. To achieve this, divide your hair into two sections and tie them into buns on either side of your head. Curl your remaining hair into loose waves and add Clip-in Tinsel for a pop of color! You can also try adding glitter or 2 single wefts from our Peekaboo Halo kit to make it more festive.
[button text="SHOP SEAMLESS EXTENSIONS"]
Although Hailey Bieber’s bob may be taking over your feed, long hair is in for festival season. Long locks made their way back on our radar a few summers ago but have stayed trending on some familiar faces. Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Kylie Jenner and so many others are strutting longer locks for big events. Try pairing our Classic 24” Clip-in Extensions with a beachy wave for the perfect festival hairstyle. To take this style up a level add baby braids to your front pieces or half up half down pigtails.
If you’re worried about keeping your style all day try adding our 20” Clip-In Ponytail to your hairstyle look to keep it all together and still give all the looks needed for your feed!

Plié into the ballet-core trend this festival season! Bows have been spotted on major celebs like Madison Beer and many others. Cottage-core chic meets spring vibes bows can be the perfect accessory for spring festivals if you're looking for a feminine soft look! We love how Justine Marjan paired bows with the 90’s inspired Pam Anderson updo here on Madison Beer. If cottage-core chic isn’t your thing, try adding small ribbon accents into braids, around buns and the base of your Clip-in Ponytail Extension for some extra dimension! We recommend using bright colors like neon pinks, orange and even green to really make it pop.
Braids are undoubtedly the most popular festival hairstyle as they can keep your hair neat and stylish while serving looks for your TikTok. With so many different styles of braids (Fishtail braids, French braids, or Box braids etc.) mixing braids into other styles or using them on their own is the perfect look for all your upcoming festivals. While braids are not a new hairstyle they are always a staple to wear for more than just festival season. To achieve a festival-ready look we recommend using our 24” Classic Clip-in Extensions and hair tinsel! Braid the tinsel into your extensions for an extra bit of glitter and fun!

Y2K style is making its way through social media and it's becoming the biggest trend this year. Think Avril Lavigne meets Paris Hilton’s style circa early 2000’s. Juicy Couture tracksuits, bedazzled hair and colored highlights are all back on the scene and we are here for it! This festival season be on the lookout for familiar trends you may have once worn in your middle school years. ]]>One of our favorite reasons to use clip in extensions is for sky-high volume. If you’ve spent hours trying to get voluminous locks with heat tools, hairspray, and other styling products, only to have your hair fall flat during the day, don’t fret! No matter your hair type or length, you can achieve thicker and fuller styles instantly with a little hair extension magic. If you have thinner hair, extensions can give you a natural-looking and effortlessly full look in minutes.
If you have shorter hair and think extensions aren’t for you, think again! Our new 12 Inch Seamless Extensions will perfectly complement shorter lengths while adding mega volume and a fuller look. The set includes 10 wefts and is available in 40 different colors. 12 inch hair extensions typically fall around the shoulder, so they won’t overwhelm shorter lengths. Embrace your short locks while adding volume with Luxy hair extensions.
Want proof? Here are some seriously stunning ways to style hair extensions for volume. From glamorous vintage waves to rocker-chic shags, there’s a look in this list for every type of occasion, including weddings, date night, and special events.

To style a lob with mega volume, you’ll need high-quality clip on hair extensions, hairdresser scissors, some combs, and a hair clip. Our Application Kit will help keep all your tools organized, whether at home or on the go. Start with dry hair that’s freshly washed and clip in your 12 inch hair extensions toward the bottom of your head. Take an extension with three clips and clip it onto the back of your head, then place another one right on top. Next, place a set with two clips on each side, right behind the ears.
Then take a set with four clips to put in along the back of your head, followed by another one on top.
After securely clipping in your extensions, use hairdresser scissors to blend perfectly with your natural hair. If your hair is around shoulder-length, you probably will not have to do much cutting with 12 inch extensions. After the length is on point, take your natural hair out of the clip and brush it out with a comb, doing any touch-ups as needed. Now you’re ready for the fun part, styling! First apply some root-lifting spray for texture and volume spray just above the hair extensions. You should already be seeing some va-va-voom volume. If you want to take your lob to the next level, add a few curls into your hair with a thin curling iron.
[instagram id="BV-GXB3hpg1"]
Want to add some glamour to your look? Consider giving Velcro Hair Rollers a spin. These old-school rollers will give you bouncy, beautiful hair in a few easy steps. Plus, they’re heatless, so they’re safe for natural hair and extensions.
To use velcro rollers, start with wet hair. Apply styling mousse and let hair air dry. When your hair is slightly damp, you’re ready to roll! First section hair into three parts, then into smaller sections to match the size of your rollers. The bigger the roller, the more volume. Hold a section of hair out straight and roll the ends inward around the roller. Repeat until all sections are securely in place with rollers. Let hair sit for about 20 minutes. If you want to take the volume up a notch, pop in some rollers around the crown of your head and leave them while you do your makeup or get dressed.

If you’re searching for the perfect braid style to make you feel special, look no further than this voluminous side braid. Whether heading to a summer party or the first day of class, this romantic hairstyle will turn heads.
Start by using a curling iron to add loose waves to your natural hair and extensions. Spray locks with a heat protectant spray to minimize heat damage. After your hair is curled, bring it to one side of your head. Divide hair at the temple and securely clip in a weft with three clips. Take a section of hair from the top and tie it into a ponytail with an elastic. Carefully make a little hole in the elastic, flip the ponytail, and bring the hair through the hole. This will form the topsy tail part of the braid. Next, create another ponytail with hair from the other side of your head. Make another topsy tail. Repeat until you have three or four topsy tails from the temple to the ear. Secure a three-clip weft at the roots underneath the bottommost tail. Bring all of your remaining hair together and braid it into a fishtail. Use an elastic to secure the bottom. As a finishing touch for extra volume, gently pull apart little pieces of the braid to make it look thick and full. Add some sparkly hair clips, flowers, or headband to jazz it up even more.

You don’t have to schedule an appointment at the salon to get a bouncy blowout. You can achieve this statement style at home with volumizing shampoo and conditioner, and don’t forget to apply heat protectant spray before using your blow dryer. After your hair is washed, prepped, and you’ve clipped in your extensions, apply a thickening or volumizing spray to help lift hair at the roots. Then, mist your entire head with texturizing spray. Now you’re ready to turn on that blowdryer. Blow hair dry upside down for amazing volume. Once your hair is almost dry, use a round brush like your stylist. Start with your brush at the root of the hair. As you blow dry, pull the brush toward the end of your hair. Once you reach the end, pull the brush back toward the roots. Blast with some cold air to help lock in frizz-free volume. Repeat on the rest of your hair until you have a salon-worthy blowout.
For an extra punch of volume, stack our Volumizer Weft over the weft on the highest part of your head. This weft effortlessly clips in to add beautiful thickness and volume.

If you love the lob, consider spicing it up with a fun set of curtain bangs. These wispy bangs date back to the ‘60 and ‘70s, when celebrities like Brigette Bardot, Farrah Fawcett, and Goldie Hawn popularized the look. They are usually parted in the middle and swept to each side of the face, like curtains. The angled bangs are shorter in the center and longer on the sides, which makes the eyes pop.
If you want to pump up the volume on your curtain bang lob, use a blow dryer and 1-inch round brush. Blow dry wet bangs on both sides until about 50 percent dry. Then, part them down the middle and wrap the hair around your round brush. To get the characteristic curtain bang shape, bring the brush forward, back, and up while blow drying. Apply some texture spray to the ends of your bangs for a finishing touch.
[instagram id="B8UEMZbpewd"]
Known for its choppy layers, bangs, and wild texture, the shag cut was popularized by the likes of Stevie Nicks and Mick Jagger. Today, stars like Selena Gomez, Billie Eilish, and Miley Cyrus are rocking this edgy look in various ways, including the wolf cut and shag mullet. This layered haircut has a natural volumizing effect and it’s relatively low maintenance to style at home. You can let it air dry or enhance the tousled style with a texturizing spray to get a voluminous look. If you have curly or wavy hair, apply a curl cream and let it air dry to play up your natural texture. For straight hair, add mousse or styling cream to damp hair prior to blow drying. Scrunching hair upwards while blow drying will increase the volume. Clipping in hair extensions will let you play around with length and mix things up, whatever style of shag you have.

Flirty, playful, and fun, the ponytail is one of the most versatile hairstyles around. Beyonce’s high pony is short and sweet with lots of volume on top. To recreate the look, start with second day hair. Take a section of hair from the front of your face about two to three inches on either side. Apply dry shampoo at the roots and backcomb your hair with a teasing brush. Next, clip in a four-clip weft upside down at the roots along the back of your head, followed by a three-clip weft at the crown. You can stack two or more wefts together to create more thickness. From there, you can gather your hair into a high ponytail. Moving toward the back of your head, clip two one-clip wefts into separated sections of hair. Bring natural hair over the wefts and bring it back with the rest of hair into the ponytail, securing with an elastic. To add some flirty wave to your pony, wrap one-inch sections of hair around a one inch curling wand. Tease the top of the ponytail with a teasing brush for even more volume. Mist hair with hairspray to complete the look.

Inspired by the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Veronica Lake, Hollywood waves will make you feel like a movie star, no red carpet required. The vintage hairstyle was first worn by actresses in the 1920s, and it’s still popular today with the likes of Amanda Seyfreid, Megan Thee Stallion, and Gemma Chan. To style elegant Hollywood waves at home, part hair to the side and blow dry smooth using a round brush. Next, use a 1-inch barrel tong to curl hair and then pin and cool for 10 minutes. Brush downwards in small sections to loosen the curl. Keep your glamorous waves smooth and shiny all day long by finishing off the style with a light layer of hairspray.
[instagram id="CV8G4wjNTyx"]
Effortless, laid-back, and timeless, beachy waves aren’t just for the beach. This perfectly imperfect style looks great at any length and can easily fit into any type of occasion. Whether you’re rocking shoulder length waves with our 12-inch extensions or going for longer lengths, you can style beachy waves with hair extensions for va-va-voom volume in a few simple steps. Begin with dry hair and apply heat protectant spray before using a 1.5-inch curling wand over hair. Curl hair in different directions to achieve those signature messy and tousled waves. Once you’re done curling all of your hair, finish off with some texturizing spray to add more volume and give you that beach vacation look.
[instagram id="CZktEgDFMHH"]
No matter your texture, hair color, or length, the half-up, half-down hairstyle will work for you. This style is ideal for concealing greasy second-day hair and transitions from day-to-night. Plus, there are plenty of creative ways to pull strands back from your face and add eye-catching volume. Take Lana Del Rey’s look, for example. The star’s style, inspired by Sharon Tate, features face-framing strands on either side of her face and plenty of volume up top. To recreate the stunning volume, clip in your favorite hair extensions and then pin up half of your hair with a clip or elastic. Tease hair on top into a high crown for a statement half-up style.

Truly anything goes in La La Land, especially when it comes to hairstyles. Whether it’s effortlessly messy beach waves or bright pops of neon color, there’s a hairstyle trend to match every style and personality. This year we’re seeing a wide variety of new hair trends, including 60s volume, curtain bangs, 90s ponytails, and colorful highlights. Celebrities like Zendaya and Alexa Demie are taking the latest looks out for a spin and the results are stunning.
With festival season in full swing, it’s a great time to switch up your own hair and try a new look inspired by Los Angeles trends. You could keep things short and sweet with a new bob cut or brighten your locks with some peekaboo highlights. To help get your creativity flowing, we’re taking a look at some of the top hair trends in LA, as seen on our favorite celebrities. Whether rocking a red carpet event or hitting the streets of LA, these stars know how to keep their locks looking flawless
[instagram id="B2jYutJB3kh"]
Best known for her role as Maddy Perez on the television series Euphoria, Alexa Demie is a pro at delivering stunning hair and beauty looks both on- and off-screen. The brunette beauty regularly rocks retro looks on the show, including everything from ‘60s volume to silver eyeshadow. Here, she pairs a bold glitter cateye with bouncy body.
To recreate this volume at home, it just takes a little hairspray and some velcro hair rollers. You can apply the rollers to wet or dry hair. Make sure the hair roller is secured to the root of the hair with a clip and start rolling forward, toward your forehead. Once you’ve added rollers to your entire head, apply a light layer of hair spray and let the rollers work their magic.
[article handle="hair-roller-sizes"]
If you’re looking for more iconic hairstyles from Euphoria, there’s also the zigzag hairband Maddy wore in Season 2, which featured voluminous, teased hair in the back and a zigzag part in the front. She’s also worn a beret with mermaid waves on the show. You can easily recreate this look by pairing a beret with our clip-in hair extensions. Just be sure to secure the beret with some hair pins.
If you’re looking for a technicolor look that will turn heads, take inspiration from Charli D’Amelio’s pink peekaboo highlights. The teenage TikTok influencer might be known for her upbeat dance routines and choreography, but her hair and beauty looks are just as memorable. Here, she darkens up her dark locks with face-framing pink highlights. The color also goes underneath her layers for a unique, peekaboo effect.
If you haven’t heard, peekaboo highlights are strategically placed streaks of color applied underneath the top layer of hair. This placement allows them to peek out from your hair for a whimsical look. While peekaboo hair is the perfect way to spice up your natural hair, these highlights can also require regular maintenance and touch-ups to stay fresh.
If you want to instantly add a pop of color to your hair like Charli without the commitment, try our Peekaboo Halo Collection. Available in bubblegum, lilac, and aquamarine, these vivid clip-in highlights will let you change up your color just in time for summer and festival season. Simply clip them into your locks and let your true colors shine! The sets are available with a 16” halo weft and two seamless wefts for easy application.

Does Reese Witherspoon ever have bad hair days? The LA actress, producer, and book club founder has a great head of hair and can rock a wide range of styles. From beachy waves to wispy bangs, Reese is constantly switching up her sun-kissed locks. At one point, she even dyed her signature blonde hair a dark chocolate shade of brown for a film role. Here, her hair is parted down the middle with a breezy texture that looks like she just came from the beach.
If you want to recreate Reese’s beachy texture, consider spritzing your mane with a sea salt or texturizing spray. Dry texturizing sprays will help boost your natural texture and give you flawless waves without weighing down hair or making it look greasy. For a great hair day, apply texturizing spray evenly about six to eight inches away from your hair in a circular motion. You can braid your hair before bed to take waves to the next level.

Money piece highlights are all the rage in LA lately. If you’re looking for a more subtle switch up, these trendy highlights might just be for you. Money pieces involve dyeing the front pieces of your hair three or four shades lighter than the rest of your hair. These highlights brighten up your face instantly and make your facial features pop. Plus, they look amazing on all hair colors, from cool blondes to warm browns.

If you’re looking for some money piece inspiration, just take a look at TikTok influencer Tinx. The Los Angeles-based star has over 1.5 million followers on TikTok thanks to her witty pop culture commentary, dating advice, and social media savvy. Her cool sense of style features a mix of high and low pieces for an effortless LA vibe. In this photo, the star lightens up her brown locks with some face-framing caramel blonde highlights to stunning effect. To try this highlight trend for yourself, visit the salon for a color change.

Zendaya is no stranger to breaking the internet with killer fashion and hairstyles. However, when the actress shared a picture of her sun-kissed box braids on Instagram, she outdid herself. The beautiful selfies received millions of likes in a few hours, including praise from her Euphoria costars Hunter Schafer, Barbie Ferreira, and Alexa Demie. Zendaya wore her taut braids separated in the center for a ‘90s feel, pairing them with glowing skin and subtle touch of lip balm. It’s no wonder these braids are being spotted everywhere in LA.
If you’ve been thinking about getting box braids, take cues from Zendaya. This protective hairstyle is truly timeless. These plaits were popularized by Janet Jackson back in the 90s and lately everyone from Zoe Kravitz to Beyoncé have been spotted rocking braids.

Before you schedule a salon visit, it’s a good idea to do some research beforehand. You’ll want to do a scalp and protein treatment and make sure to apply a moisture-rich conditioner before your appointment. For best results, deep condition for 10 to 15 minutes and use heat to ensure the product penetrates the hair thoroughly. After your locks are moisturized, decide on your braid size and thickness. If you’re planning on sticking with this style for a long time, go for smaller sections. On the day of your appointment, expect to spend a few hours in your stylist’s chair. Bring some snacks, podcasts, and a good book to keep you company.

Billie Eilish made a splash at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony when she arrived on the red carpet with a flicked, jet-black bob. The hairstyle also includes sweeping bangs for a retro, ‘60s touch. The singer paired her chic locks with a matching ruffled black dress. While known for her blonde shag, Billie proved herself to be quite the style chameleon with this dramatic look.
To recreate her curled, ‘60s bob, blow dry your hair with a round barrel brush. While drying, roll the ends inwards with the brush. To secure the flipped ends, use a straightener to finish the look. If you’re a fan of the flicked ends but don’t want to commit to a shorter bob hairstyle, you can also opt for the Barbie ponytail. Beloved by Ariana Grande, this hairstyle features a sky-high pony with curled ends and a side bang swoop across the forehead. The chic ponytail complements all hair types and can be worn for formal or casual occasions. For a sweet touch, add a ribbon or velvet scrunchie.
Curtain bangs are making a comeback this year. The versatile hair trend draws inspiration from the ‘70s but adds a modern twist with shorter and more textured bangs. The wispy, face-framing style is parted down the middle and swept to the each side of the face for a romantic look. Considering that these bangs flatter all face shapes and complement straight, wavy, and curly hair types, their popularity is not surprising. Everyone from Kelly Rowland to Hilary Duff has been spotted rocking these soft and swoopy bangs. Olivia recently debuted a superb set of curtain bangs at a magazine shoot, pairing the bangs with softly swooping waves.
If you’ve been pondering whether or not to get bangs, take this as the sign you needed! Curtain bangs are easy to style and require much less maintenance than other types of bangs. They look good at any length, so you won’t have to worry about scheduling regular trims. Since you can air dry your way to beautiful curtain bangs, this style also lets you take a break from hot tools.

Want to liberate your hair for the summer? Take notes from Demi Lovato and shave your head. The LA star showed off a beautiful buzz cut on their Instagram, calling it a “fresh start” for 2022. This radical hair transformation symbolizes a new beginning. Nothing will take the weight off your shoulders like a shaved head. The great thing about short styles like this is that they can make you look (and feel) so much cooler during warmer months. Hair holds heat to the scalp, causing you to sweat more. By rocking a short buzz cut, you’ll notice that your head has room to breathe.
If you’re ready to take the plunge and go for the shaved head, you’ll want to start with clean and dry hair. Ask a friend to help you use big clippers to remove most of the hair. Move from the nape of your neck to the ear until you’re at the center of the back of your head. Keep going until your head is completely shaved. Use the clippers to touch up and polish the look. For professional results, it’s best to schedule an appointment with your stylist.

Chrissy Teigen has been serving us plenty of epic hairstyles lately, including beachy waves, chic updos, and textured bobs. Perhaps her most powerful look yet is the blunt bob she wore earlier this year on her Instagram. The bob features crisply cut ends tailored to her face, which curve in slightly for a sleek finish. The model and host paired her sliced bob with a loose white dress to make the structured hairstyle feel more laid back.
[article handle="how-to-blend-clip-in-hair-extensions-with-short-hair"]
This tidy, center parted style complements most hair textures and can work with straight or curly strands. When styling your bob, apply a heat protectant to the ends to protect them from the SoCal sunshine. This tip will also keep them fresh in-between salon visits.
Last but not least, Kim K is making some serious waves with her mermaid-inspired hairstyle. The reality star and makeup mogul is never afraid to try out a new trend, rocking everything from platinum blonde to cotton candy colored locks. Her mermaid mane might be one of her best styles yet. The siren-worthy waves cascade down past her waist, evoking a carefree, summer feeling. The dark waves are equally bohemian and glamorous, making them a great choice for your summer style.
If your hair isn’t quite as long as Kim's, don’t fret! You can achieve that longer, fuller hair you’ve been dreaming of in minutes with our clip-in extensions. Made from Remy human hair, our extensions will stay soft, shiny, and silky smooth for their lifetime.

]]>Of course, there are also plenty of unforgettable fashion and beauty moments in Legally Blonde. After all, Elle’s happy place is the beauty salon. Her flirty 90s wardrobe includes halter dresses, fluffy coats, and sparkles, all in her signature pink color. The outfits are perfectly complemented by A-plus hairstyles. Whether she’s using legal jargon in her law school classes, making her case in the courtroom, or getting ready for date night, Elle Woods’ hair is always looking fabulous.
She sports everything from glamorous waves to butterfly clips and sleek ponytails in the movie. To celebrate Legally Blonde’s 20th anniversary, we’re launching our Legally Blonde x Luxy Hair set, which includes a ponytail extension, detangling brush, pink Gravity Defying Hair Ties, vegan pink feather pen, and a notebook with a sticker sheet that has the most iconic Legally Blonde quotes. This hair set has all of the essentials to achieve an Elle Woods-worthy hairstyle. To help inspire your Legally Blonde look, here’s a list of Elle’s best hairstyles from the film and step-by-step instructions on how to recreate them at home like a pro.
It feels like yesterday that Elle Woods arrived at Harvard Law School, fresh-faced and eager to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner. For Elle’s first day of classes, she proves that scholars can be stylish too. She sports a serious blue smoking jacket, knee-length skirt, black glasses, and tall brown boots, perfect for strutting her way down the halls. Her high ponytail perfectly complements her stylish look. Elle leaves out two strands of hair on either side of her face to frame her bouncy pony. If you’ve seen the film, then you know this is the look Elle wears for her iconic run-in with Warner at law school. At first, Warner couldn't believe Elle got into law school. Her response is one of the best lines from the movie: “What, like it’s hard?”
If you need a fierce first-day of school or work ponytail, or just want to dress to impress, you can recreate this look in a few simple steps. One of the things we love most about Elle Woods’ hairstyles is how much bounce and vigor her hair has. If you recently cut your hair short or want to add some volume to thin locks, hair extensions can help you achieve a longer and thicker ponytail instantly.
[article handle ="hair-volume"]
Start by brushing out your hair thoroughly, removing knots and tangles. Draw hair back into a high ponytail. Remove face-framing bang pieces from the ponytail. You can use an elastic to tie them up and away from your face. Twist the ponytail and pull it up into a bun and secure the bun into place using a Gravity Defying Hair Tie.
Now, you have a choice. You can either use your Curly Ponytail Extensions for a more voluminous look or Straight Ponytail Extensions. Just run over them with a curling iron to get beautiful waves like Elle. Whichever ones you choose, brush them out with our Detangling Wet Brush first.
After your extensions are tangle-free, clip them up onto your bun and wrap the velcro base around securely. Take a strand of hair and put it around the base to conceal the band and use bobby pins to secure your style into place. Grab your Luminous Shine Hair Oil and put a few drops into your hair to make it feel soft and hydrated. As a final touch, use a straightener or curling iron to give your face-framing bangs a subtle wave. The reading glasses are optional.
Elle never says no to a challenge or a sky-high ponytail. She shows her classmates just how fabulous Elle Woods really is in this look, which she wears for lounging around on the school lawn while Warner plays football nearby. Her eye-catching pink sequin bikini, red sunglasses, fluffy jacket, and sleek pony soon draw more attention than the match itself.
The look is super fun, plus it keeps hair out of Elle’s face. If you need to disguise greasy second or third day hair, ponytail extensions will go to work for you.
[article handle="9-ponytails-for-every-occasion"]
Want to recreate this ponytail at home? Start by using a brush to remove tangles and knots from hair. When you pull the hair back into a ponytail, use the brush to make it smooth and lump-free, like Elle’s.
Apply a light layer of hairspray and use your hands to spread it evenly over your head to prevent pesky flyaways. Slide a comb under your hair tie at the top of the ponytail and secure your hair extensions. Take the velcro base and wrap it around the ponytail until it is firmly in place. You can hide the band by taking a strand of hair and wrapping it around. Give your head a shake to make sure it’s secure and you’re ready to go!
What would Legally Blonde be without the bend and snap scene? For the unfamiliar, the bend and snap is a move Elle teaches to her friend Paulette in the nail salon to help her win over the hunky mailman. According to Elle, the seductive move boasts a “98 percent success rate of getting a man’s attention.” While Paulette ends up breaking the man’s nose with her bend and snap, the two eventually end up together in the end. It really works!
While giving her bend and snap lesson to the folks at the nail salon, Elle wears a chic and sweet outfit with jeans, pink tank top, and a yellow tie top. It’s simple, but undeniably chic. Her hair is parted in the middle, pulled back on top with cute hair clips, and worn down on the sides.
Whether you use ‘90s butterfly clips, a claw clip, or glittery bobby pins to secure your hair, you can easily use this hairstyle to inspire your next look. If you want to achieve Elle’s length, use our Seamless clip in hair extensions for a comfortable and secure hold. They will stay in place, no matter how much snapping you get up to.
Elle Woods’ outfits are never disappointing, especially when she’s trying to make a good impression at school. For her orientation day, she pairs a blue and pink striped shirt with a pink newsboy cap and low ponytail. Of course, her Chihuahua Bruiser is by her side when she introduces them as “Gemini vegetarians.” While her classmates are not amused, that doesn’t stop Elle from making the most of the day.
If you want to copy her effortless low ponytail style at home, you just need to follow a few simple steps. Gather your supplies, including a clip in ponytail extension, bobby pins, a hair elastic, a hairbrush, and your favorite hairspray. It’s best to start with second day hair or hair that’s slightly oily so that the style doesn’t slip and slide. If you just washed your hair, use a texturizing spray for extra hold.
[article handle ="ariana-grande-inspired-ponytail-with-extensions"]
Once you have your accessories, brush out your hair and pull all of it back towards your head. Smooth out the hair at the crown and secure the ponytail into a bun at the nape of your neck. Take your extensions and secure them around the bun using the wefts. Take a half-inch strand of hair and wrap it around a ponytail and secure it with a bobby pin to hide the extensions. After your long and luxurious ponytail is in place, give your locks a dose of hairspray to ensure it stays in place all day or night long. And if you want to accessorize the pony with a pink newsboy cap, we’re not standing in your way!
Last but not least is this bouncy blowout Elle wears at the beginning of the film for a date night out with Warner. While Elle thinks the blowout is for her proposal dinner, the look turns into her breakup blowout when Warner breaks the news that he wants to end their relationship. However, Warner is definitely a bonehead for dumping Elle. Everything about this hairstyle is swoon-worthy!
From the volume to the curls, Elle’s blonde locks are bringing it. You can use this look to inspire your next date night or girl’s night out. If your locks are feeling limp, don’t fret! Our Halo Hair Extensions Collection can add natural volume and length to your hair instantly.
If you want to recreate the curls, start with hairspray. This will help your waves last all day. Lightly mist your hair with the spray from root to tip. Brush through your hair a couple of times and then use a curling iron to curl 1-inch sections of your natural hair away from your face. Hold the wand parallel to the floor, no matter which hand you’re using. Always curl your hair in the same direction for a consistent look.
After your natural hair is curled, it’s time to curl your extensions before clipping them in. Use the same curling technique so that your extensions will blend well with your natural curls. Once your extensions are curled, you can clip the wefts directly into your hair. Secure a 3-clip weft at the nape of your neck and a 4-clip weft above it. The 2 and 1-clip weft can be arranged around your face for an extra dose of va-va-voom volume.
[article handle="big-voluminous-curls-hair-tutorial"]
If you are looking for a no heat method, you can use our Velcro Hair Rollers for a healthy, no-heat style. The set comes with 18 rollers in large, medium, and small sizes. Simply start with hair that’s slightly damp and brush out your front pieces of hair with a comb. Clip the rest of your hair back. Take the hair pieces and apply a layer of hairspray. Then, take one of the large rollers and roll the bangs away from your face. Secure the roller in place with one of the included clips.
Continue with the rest of your hair, spraying each piece with hairspray before securing the roller. Roll hair inwards to frame your face. Use smaller rollers in the front and larger ones in the back to get that va-va-voom volume. After all of your hair is up in the rollers, leave them in for 20 to 30 minutes. When it’s time to take them out, simply remove the rollers one by one and enjoy hair that looks fresh from the salon.
Although there were definitely some fashion bumps along the way. For example, who can forget when Elle showed up at the non-costume party wearing a pink bunny costume, complete with a tail? Or when one of her professors asked her to leave class on the first day for her outfit choice? Luckily, Elle had Bruiser and her friend Paulette around for support.
While many characters frequently underestimate Elle based on her blonde locks and fun fashion choices, she smashes stereotypes and proves you can have beauty and brains. As Elle says herself at the end of the film, “You must always have faith in yourself.”

]]>To explain, it’s basically your life saver in case of an accidental spill, or an allergic reaction on your wedding day. You can imagine a large tote bag filled with all the necessities you may need in a pinch. Most wedding planners will have one prepared already, but if you are planning your wedding yourself, or want a little extra comfort you can create one on your own. Don’t worry if this is your first time hearing about this kit because we have compiled the ultimate wedding emergency kit plan for you.
The first step to creating a wedding day emergency kit is understanding what could happen in an “emergency” and what you would need to fix it. Although this may not be a fun thought to have, it's best to be prepared in case a bridesmaid spills a little coffee on her blush gown or you need to bring your hairdo back to life with a volumizing spray.
Experts suggest packing your emergency kit weeks in advance from your actual big day to avoid any forgotten items or brain fog.
The week of your wedding will be full of last minute tasks and running around so as to avoid cramming the to-do list, pack your emergency kit well in advance, and take your time gathering all the items.
Pro Tip: Bring your emergency kit to wedding events leading up to the big day. Your bachelorette party is a perfect time to include your kit. To avoid forgetting anything, print our list and use it as your guide to gather everything.
On your wedding day you’ll want to designate someone to carry and take care of your emergency bag. Either your wedding planner, maid of honor or a bridesmaid can do this! Usually your venue will have a safe place to store your items and wedding gifts, so you can leave your bag in there during the day. Have a designated person pick up your emergency bag the night before or week before and make sure they bring it for you the day of.
So with that in mind, let's dig into the ultimate preparation tools from real life wedding planners.
Snacks: We’ve all seen the movies where the bride faints, and it does happen in real life. There’s nothing worse than feeling faint, or worse…hangry on your big day. Pack some granola bars, fruit or anything travel friendly you can grab in a hurry to help balance out your blood sugar.
Medicine: Allergic reactions, headaches, a toothache…anything that can happen, can happen. Pack your go-to pain reliever or allergy medication just in case you discover that day you are actually very allergic to pollen or someone's perfume.
Nail Polish: You’ll most likely have shellac or a gel manicure for your big day, but in case of a chip, keep your nail intact with a clear top coat as a backup.
Nail File: Did a stubborn nail break right before walking down the aisle? A quick file will fix any snagging it might make on your beautiful dress and veil.
Mini First Aid Kit: Include items like band-aids, rubbing alcohol, cotton pads, burn cream etc. It may not be needed by you but in case someone has a bit too much to drink and finds themselves falling on the dance floor, you’ll be glad to have included this.
Eye Drops: Whether you wear contacts or not, dry eyes can be caused by pollen or seasonal allergies. Or just staying up late and not being able to sleep because of wedding day jitters! Adding this to your emergency bridal kit is a must. Psst, its also a great hack to having beautiful, bright eyes in your photos!
Tampons & Pads: Enough said, be safe rather than sorry. Even if you keep track of your cycle, times of stress can cause your flow to be irregular and you don’t want to stain your beautiful dress.
Water Bottles: Have water bottles on hand for you and your bridal party on-site at your getting ready location, and photo-ops. Don’t forget to bring stainless steel straws to keep your lipstick on!
Razors: Missed a spot under your arm or on your legs? Have a backup razor in case anyone forgot an area prepping for your day.
Q-Tips & Makeup Remover: Smudged eyeliner from walking down the aisle. Have both Q-tips and makeup remover on hand for any touch ups you might need throughout the day.
[article handle="celebrity-wedding-hairstyles"]
Toiletries: Deodorant, lotion, lip chap, toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss & perfume. Pack as if you’re going overnight somewhere and you won’t miss anything.
Blotting Papers: Don’t sweat it. Having blotting papers on hand means you can touch up oily T-zones and your lips if necessary. Even if you don’t have oily skin, you will want to refresh your make up after a full day of wedding festivities.
Stain Remover: A Tide-to-go pen will be your best friend in a pinch. Don’t take a chance of a stain ruining your big day. Have a backup stain remover readily at hand.
Super Glue: Did a bead fall off your dress? Broken nail? A bridesmaid heel broke that maybe shouldn’t have been used the night before to go out? It can all be super glued at the last minute so no one is the wiser.
White Chalk: Maybe one of the most important things on this list. If a stain won’t come out of your dress, chalk can cover it up enough to help hide it. Don’t forget the chalk!
Fabric Tape: Tape your girls, your dress hem, anything that might need an extra hand.
Bobby Pins & Elastics: There’s nothing worse than your hairstyle falling out right before walking down the aisle. Have a backup of hair elastics, scrunchies, pins, and a curling iron for any touch ups. Store it all in our favorite Application Kit.
Volumizer Wefts: Don’t forget hairstyles can fall flat, or worse fall out. Have backup volumizers wefts if you need extra oomf’ or thickness for your big day.
Extensions Carrier: Having your Luxy extensions carrier protect and carry your additional volumizer wefts & clip-in extensions to keep them in the best shape during transit and to hold styling.
Baby Powder: Chafing has the power to make you miserable. Don’t allow it on your big day, pack a mini baby powder for anything that might get a little uncomfortable.
Compact Mirror: Whether you’re on your way to the church, or in between photos. Having a compact mirror to double check that everything is still looking good is a must. P.S. Ask your Maid of Honor to have this on hand for you!
Comb & Hairspray: Packing a comb & hairspray can help tame any fly aways you might run into & help with any bridesmaid hair malfunctions long after hair and makeup has left.
[article handle="top-10-hairstyles-for-bridesmaids"]
Earring Backs: Purchase some clear backings incase of a missing back on the day of and don’t worry about losing an accessory after a night of dancing.
Cash: Whether you need cash for a quick fast food run on the way to the chapel, or forgot to tip one of your vendors. Cash on hand will be important!
Mints: You’ve been up since 8 am prepping, eating and sipping coffee. Have these on hand to help with a refresh and also an upset tummy!
Phone Charger: Chances are you’ll want to TikTok your day from start to finish while getting ready! Tiktok drains your battery, pack a fast charging cord to ensure you have your phone with you ready to record all day long!
Sunscreen: If you’re having an outdoor wedding in the middle of summer don’t risk getting a burn on your shoulders! Pack a high SPF sunscreen to protect your skin throughout the day.
Scissors: If you’ve packed a mini sewing kit, chances are you’ll have some in there. If not, this is your reminder!
Static Guard: Bridesmaid dresses sticking to your crew? Static guard is the ultimate save for anything static-y the day of.
Lidocaine Pain Relieving Spray: Yes, pain spray. It will be your savior hours into your wedding when your feet hurt from your heels! Spray it on and dance the night away.
Flat Shoes: When the party really starts you may want to let your hair down and dance the night away. Pack a pair of your favorite white sneakers, or flip flops and really enjoy the night!
Tissues: It's your wedding day, and there's bound to be a lot of happy tears. Have some on hand for those tearjerker moments.
Black Socks: We know you’re not wearing socks…but the groomsmen are, and let’s face it sometimes they can leave things last minute. Have a backup in case they forgot.
Whether your big day is a few weeks away or a couple months, mentally preparing for it can feel overwhelming with all the “to-do’s” you may have left. Organization is key, and creating lists can help calm your nerves of forgetting anything. Packing your emergency kit is one additional step to make you feel confident in knowing you’re well prepared for your day. In the midst of all the planning, remind yourself that this is a day meant for you and the love of your life to enjoy and remember forever. Don’t sweat the small stuff, and be present in every moment. If you stick to that, you are sure to have the best day of your life.

]]>I recently decided to quit my full time job and work for myself instead as a content creator so it’s very important that I keep myself on a schedule and be organized since I am now my own boss.
The first thing I do in the morning is drink my coffee and then fill out my to-do list for the day. I try to workout in the morning at least three times a week.
Since I use a lot of heat on my hair I try my best to be kind to my hair. What I mean by that is, I always use a heat protectant! Also I try not to wash my hair everyday although it is hard because my hair gets very greasy quickly. To keep my hair hydrated I’ll use a hair mask 2-3 times a week to prevent and repair damage.
I love this question because I remember this so clearly! During the pandemic my sister one day brought home a pack of hair rollers from the drugstore and she said, “We have to try these.'' In the beginning I wasn’t that excited but then one day I decided to give them a shot. The first time I used them I didn't necessarily love the outcome but I made it my mission to perfect them.
I realized then that there weren’t many hair roller tutorials or ‘how to’ videos online on how to perfect these hair rollers since they were considered retro. So I practiced and practiced, and eventually got the hang of it! And while doing that I documented my love for hair rollers over on my Tiktok page @ acquiredstyle
[article handle="hair-rollers-guide"]
When I was little my mom used to style my hair in french braids before bed time. It was a nice little ritual we had and I would wake up in the morning with the perfect beach crimp waves. It’s my favorite hair hack to this day.
I am team flip-your-hair-all-day so you have no set part! ;)
This whole process has been so exciting. When I had my first meeting with the team, the call was initially about working together on a “longer term basis” but when the team proposed the idea of me getting to create my own hair rollers and sell them, I freaked out!
It took about 7 months to plan and conceptualize. Working with the Luxy Hair team has been a dream. They gave me so much creative freedom with the product and we worked very closely together to bring this to life- everything from quality to size to color.
The three most important things to me were the quality of the roller, having a mini roller (an XS size roller for my ladies with layers and bangs) and having clips to keep your rollers in place. Luxy has been amazing with helping me bring this all to life.
[button text="SHOP PINK HAIR ROLLERS"]
Hair rollers are of course my number one. But I also love a good face serum, self tanner and eye patches. I’m also loving the Dior Lip Oil at the moment and the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner.
I have been loving playing around with those little clear rubber bands. So many fun hair styles can be made with those like bubble ponytails or just baby braids.

I love how New York City is full of new opportunities and is never boring. Some of my favorite spots are Jack’s Coffee, Bubby’s for brunch and Mamo in Soho is my favorite restaurant for dinner.
I will be at the Allure store in New York on June 23rd to promote my Luxy Hair velcro roller collab! Very excited to meet everyone there and celebrate this milestone.
]]>That’s where we come in, with our ultimate wedding checklist. If you’re wondering how to plan a wedding like a pro, we’ve got you covered. From nailing the perfect beauty routine and practicing with those beautiful new hair extensions, to nailing the dress and accessories while booking all of your preferred vendors, we’ve rounded up all of the major things to consider as you approach your big day. Check these items off the wedding to do list month-by-month and then all you’ll have to do is hydrate and show up on your wedding day.
The first step when you’re figuring out how to plan a wedding is to determine your budget. The amount you have to spend will define what kind of a wedding you can afford. It sounds logical, but it’s easy to get carried away when you’re talking about throwing the best party of your life. So, figure out how much money you have to spend and how much you’re willing to potentially borrow and work backwards from there. Talk to your partner about how much they are willing to contribute and if there will be anyone else who would be contributing to your wedding fund.
[instagram id="CckhpRGP7O8"]
Wedding venues are a hot ticket, so if you’ve got your eye on one it’s best to nail down your spot (and come up with a deposit) ASAP. Otherwise you may be disappointed when you go to book your dream spot only to learn it’s been filled up for the next year. Consider how big your guest list is first which will help you narrow down your venue search.
It may feel a bit early to nail down all of your color choices, but doing so ensures you have an overall vision for what you want on the big day. From there you can look into vendors who offer the types of designs and products you want, rather than letting the vendors sway you with what they prefer to offer or already have in stock. Creating a consistent color palette early on will also make it easier to decide how you want your wedding invites to look like.
[instagram id="CchnjcSM4Xs"]
Whether you want a lot of your besties by your side or you prefer a more intimate affair, setting your wedding party is basically booking all of the important people in your life. Officially setting your wedding party early can help manage expectations and it allows your friends to put time and money aside to celebrate your wedding and all of the fun events that go with it well in advance. Discuss with your partner on how big or small that wedding party will be.
Like good venues, great vendors book up fast. That’s why you’ll want to figure out catering, florists, music, the photographer, and a videographer in advance. And, if you have the means to do so, now is also the time to hire a wedding planner, who can help you to streamline things and do the heavy lifting for you as you approach the big day. Even a day of wedding coordinator can help a lot so you can focus on your big day rather than stressing about logistics like the limo or flower arrangements.
[instagram id="CbvRxSwOv_E"]
They say brides glow on their big day, but the reality is a lot of prep work goes into getting the best hair, nails and skin. If you haven’t already started a good beauty and haircare routine, now’s the time to start. Consider taking vitamins, consult with a specialist on the best facial products to use, and evaluate your overall scalp health.
[article handle="vitamins-hair-loss"]
Building a good haircare routine is key. Whether you are using hair extensions on your wedding day or going with your natural hair, our Wetline hair collection was formulated to work for both your hair and your extensions.
The line includes natural, vegan hair products that are designed to keep your locks looking fresh and full. Whether you need a balancing purple shampoo or a high-gloss smoothing conditioner, we’ve got the product for you.
No matter how prepared you are, weddings are stressful. So it’s a good idea to plan to manage your stress by starting a new yoga routine, taking up meditation, or investing in some new headphones and hitting the trails to be one with nature. Whatever winds you down, start making time in your schedule to include it, so that as the months tick by it becomes a healthy and de-stressing habit.
You’ll want to give yourself lots of time to go dress shopping, so make this a priority. If you have a budget you absolutely cannot break, reiterate it to the salesperson so they don’t bring you options you can’t afford. Once you’ve got the dress in hand you can also start thinking about how you want your hair and makeup to feel, and start researching your dream looks.
[instagram id="Cb2o1CQDyad"]
Now is also the time to find a hairdresser and makeup artist you love, and book them for the big day. You may also want to consider booking trials for both. When looking at trial dates, consider timing them to align with another wedding event, like your shower or engagement photos. Because once you’re all dolled up, you’ll definitely want somewhere to go!
Accessories include everything from hair pieces and your shoes to jewelry and the robe you’re going to wear while getting ready on the big day. At Luxy we’ve got you covered with everything from hair extension carriers to pretty bridal-inspired clips that will add polish to your look.
Find one or two places and start shopping for all the pretty and practical things you’ll need in your married life. Or, if you’re already established in your own home, consider signing up for a honeymoon registry, where guests can put money towards certain experiences for the couple to enjoy after the big day. If you really don’t know what to add to the list, consider gift cards to your favorite restaurants when you need a date night in the future or to your favorite shops for future home buys.
Once you’ve got your dress down, it’s time to nail the rest of the wedding party’s looks—including the groom’s. Setting that color palette early on will give you a better idea of what outfits will complete the aesthetic you are going for.
[instagram id="CcVaF-BrgiD"]
Whether you’re looking at a town car, a limo or a horse and carriage, now is the time to nail down all the details about how and where you’re getting around on the big day. When booking don’t just think about yourself and your partner either—ensure you’ve got the whole wedding party covered.
If you’re going to leave for your honeymoon after tying the knot, now is the time to start narrowing down destinations and booking your stay. It will also give you something to look forward to once all these wedding planning checklist items are complete. Whether you are planning an exotic get away or doing more of a low key staycation, thinking about your honeymoon will help relieve some of that wedding planning stress.
Now’s the time to officially get your date on people’s radars. Whether you’re doing an email or sending out physical invites, get them out now, otherwise your friends and family’s schedules may start booking up.
Who do you want to officiate the wedding? If you want to make sure you’ve got someone who jives with your style and beliefs, interview and book your officiant now. Talking to them one on one will give you a better idea of their style of officiating and how they plan to tailor their speech to your love story.
[instagram id="CbhgIkVAcH"]
Do you plan on giving guests a little something to remember your big day with? Wedding favors are an expected touch, so take time to figure yours out. They don’t have to be big or expensive either—meaningful or practical is usually best.
The wedding rehearsal is important for a few reasons, but most of all it allows everyone involved in your wedding to know where they’re supposed to be and what’s expected of them on the big day. Typically, you’ll want to treat everyone to dinner afterwards as a way to say thank you and to bond before those vows happen. So book your space now.
Wedding rings—especially custom rings—can take some time to craft, so use a day with your special someone and pick them out sooner rather than later so you can get the sizing right!
Don’t just set the dates, ensure everyone in your wedding party knows about the dates too and what they will need to bring. Remember it’s okay to ask for help and your maid of honor can help with the planning so you can enjoy these special moments.
With everything going on right now, taking engagement photos should be fun. Invoke your inner glam with stunning and volumizing extensions, get a bit more dramatic with your makeup, or wear something that makes you feel gorgeous. Pick a location that is special to you or your partner or a place you have screenshotted years ago.
[article handle="wedding-hairstyles-why-hair-extensions-are-the-perfect-accessory-for-your-wedding"]
With six months to go, take some time to check in and see how your beauty routine is going. If your hair has a lot of product build-up, start detoxing your natural locks with our new Luxy Charcoal Detox Shampoo. If you notice a lot of breakage, take advantage of our Detangling Wet Hairbrush. And if you feel like your hair needs an overall pick-me-up, try a DIY hair mask, start using a scalp massager and be sure to prep wet hair with our new Heat Protectant Primer.
If your venue is out-of-town you’ll want to put a block of rooms on hold—not only for yourself and the wedding party, but in case wedding guests want to take advantage too.
[instagram id="Cci0RL4utRo"]
Take some time to confirm or finalize details with all of your vendors to double (or even triple) check things are going according to plan. And if there are any outstanding vendors to hire, do so immediately so you aren’t scrambling the week before.
Take some time out to sample your menu and narrow down your choices—from appetizers and canapes to mains, desserts and the wedding cake. Don’t forget to consider friends and family members with food allergies or special diets so the venue is aware of these asks.
[article handle="wedding-hair-3-diy-hairstyle-ideas"]
This is a big one—if you want to ensure your wedding is legal, don’t forget this step! Have this on hand and share with your officiant on the day of your wedding for the signing portion of your ceremony.
Considering how much you’re packing into your big day, having a timeline will help keep everyone on track. If you’re not using a wedding planner it will also help you when it comes to coordinating all of your vendors.
Trust us—if you’re saying your own, don’t wing it. Drafting those vows early is on our wedding checklist for a reason.
Those final measurements and edits take some time, so don’t delay.
At this point you should have hopefully heard back from all of your guests, but check in with stragglers and get your final numbers for the venue and vendors.
This can be stressful, so plan a whole night to do this. Either order in dinner or plan a spa-night in, complete with hair masks and maybe an exfoliating foot soak.
Remember to include any special readings or tributes, too.
If you’re the type of person who has a hard time getting out of bed in the morning, do this from under your covers with those twenty minutes or so you usually spend scrolling TikTok.
Hopefully this one won’t take a lot of time, but having it in writing ensures you don’t forget to take any important photos (like one with Grandma!) on the day of, when you’re riding that wedding day high and not necessarily on your A-Game.
If you still need to finalize your centerpieces, a guest book, cake servers or any other small décor items, now is the time to do so.
That way all your guests have the necessary info and will be on the same page. It also allows you to focus on taking care of your own last-minute stuff.
This is another small task you can do from the comfort of your bed in the mornings before your shower.
Touching up your color a week out from the big day is a good idea if you want it to feel fresh and bouncy. Just remember not to veer too much from your usual style at this point, unless you’re planning some sort of dramatic wedding reveal, of course.
Book all the beauty things, basically. Not only will you feel great and ready to go for the big day, but these appointments may also relax and distract you from the wedding and all of these wedding checklist items you’ve already completed.
Want to avoid blisters on your wedding day? Start wearing your wedding shoes around the house.
Hey, they say practice makes perfect.
[article handle="wedding-hair-trial"]
That way if they get lost on the big day, it won’t be on you.
[instagram id="CZmmYPgObcA"]
To have the freshest and prettiest nails possible, definitely don’t do this until the day before the wedding.
It’s important to get a good night’s sleep because you’ve probably got an early call time. Pack all your things the night before and eliminate any frantic running around the next morning. Then close your eyes and get some shuteye—you’re getting married tomorrow!

]]>We understand that it can be costly to shell out the big bucks on a set of hair extensions but they can last for months when well-maintained. And rather than wear them once for your special day, why not use your hair extensions for your wedding and also for all the special occasions leading up to it?
Since we want you to get the best return on your investment, we’re dishing out styling tips on how you could get the most out of your extensions before, during and after your wedding day. Here are some hair extension-friendly hairstyles that you can rock during your bridal shower, bachelorette party, honeymoon and even after the wedding festivities are over.
[instagram id="CaogjMMskk8"]
We can’t think of a more elegant bridal shower hairstyle than long, cascading beach waves. This look is perfect for those with balayage or highlighted hair because the beach waves meld together to show off the rich palette of colors throughout your hair. This regal hairstyle will have you looking like the belle of the ball at your bridal shower.
[article handle="5-minute-beach-waves"]
All you’ll need to recreate this look is: 1) a heat-protectant spray, 2) 1-inch barrel curling wand, 3) a wide-tooth comb, 4) sectioning hair clips and 5) a strong-hold hairspray. Upgrade yourself from a princess to a queen with your favorite pair of hair extensions.
First you’ll want to section off your freshly washed and blowdried hair into four separate sections using hair clips. Next, starting from the back of your head, unravel a small section of your hair and spritz it with heat protectant spray. It’s important to start from the back of your head because you run the risk of ruining the curls you’ve already done when starting from the front and making your way to the back of your head.
It’s also important to use a heat protectant spray because it helps to create a barrier between your hair and curling wand which helps to prevent heat damage. Once you spritz your hair from root to tip with heat protectant spray, you’ll want to lightly comb it to help work the product into your hair. Since you’re looking to achieve looser curls, grab a larger section of hair (about half an inch).
Now you’ll want to start curling each section of your hair, wrapping your hair around the curling wand for no longer than 7 seconds. Wrapping your hair around the curling wand for no longer than 7 seconds allows you to achieve a softer wave as opposed to super tight Shirley Temple-esque curls. It’s also important that you make sure to alternate between curling towards your face and away from your face. Have you ever curled your hair only to have it all clump into one large curl? You probably didn’t alternate your curl pattern. Alternating your curl pattern towards and away from your face helps to prevent this because each curl is positioned opposite to one another. Continue to repeat this curling motion until your hair is fully curled.
[article handle="mermaid-waves-kardashian-hairstyle"]
Because you’re going for a soft cascading wave look, you’ll want to separate those curls and loosen them up even more to transform your hair to a beach wave pattern. Start separating your curls with your fingers. Once you’ve successfully separated those locks, using a wide-toothed comb start softly combing through it to get those curls nice and wavy. Finally, apply a strong hold hairspray so you can dance the night away without the fear of your waves dropping.
Optional: dress your hair up with a neutral colored flower crown that acts as an accent to your long flowing locks.
[instagram id="B8s0qrqh5Bf"]
Let’s face it — sometimes wearing your hair down can be a little stressful when you're laser-focused on having a good time. This is where a classic high-ponytail could be your best friend during your bachelorette party festivities. Not only is a high ponytail a practical hairstyle to help keep your hair out of your face, it also helps to look sculpted by emphasizing your cheekbones and seamlessly contouring your entire face.
To recreate this look, you’ll need a set of clip-in ponytail extensions (either straight or curly, depending on your hair type), a loop brush, satin scrunchies, and a strong hold gel or hairspray. We also recommend adding decorative hair clips to help dress your hair up on your special day.
Start by brushing out any tangles in your hair then tying it up as high and tight as possible with a satin scrunchie. Cotton and metal based scrunchies can lead to dryness and breakage to your hair, especially when worn for long periods of time on curlier hair types. Satin-based scrunchies help to keep your hair moisturized, hydrated and breakage-free. Once you’ve tied your hair up to your desired height, apply your clip-in ponytail around your hair, using the interior combs to attach and wrap it around to fasten.
[article handle="bling-hair"]
The next step to achieve the high ponytail is applying either a strong hold gel or hairspray to the top portion of your hair to help tame flyaways and achieve that sleek ponytail look. The finishing touch to this look is adorning your hair with pearlescent hair clips.
We recommend placing your hair clips right above the nape of your neck underneath the ponytail. Bachelorette hair accessories like these will help to embellish your hair by adding an extra dose of flare to your ponytail. When your night of partying is all said and done, grab yourself a satin robe (don’t forget matching robes for your girlfriends) and binge-watch romcoms on Netflix in anticipation of your big day. You’ll want to be sure to preserve our beautiful hair by sleeping on a satin pillowcase to match that stylish satin robe on the night before your wedding to help to preserve the moisture in your hair and keep it from getting frizzy.
[instagram id="CaxbaXmMXFg"]
Of all the styles of buns, there are none more refined and timelessly classy as the chignon bun. A clean and simple chignon bun will help to draw attention to your beautiful face. Similar to the previously mentioned high ponytail updo, we love this refined updo look because it is equal parts functional and fabulous.
The chignon bun is the perfect look for a honeymoon getaway because we know the time you’re spending with your significant other is precious so you need a simple hairstyle that isn’t overly time-consuming. If you’re looking for a honeymoon hairstyle that’s soft and simple that won’t get in the way of your rest and relaxation, the chignon bun is exactly what you need.
To recreate this clean and low maintenance look, you’ll need a 1) scrunchie, 2) bobby pins, 3) a curling wand or 4) velcro rollers and 5) those beautiful pearlescent hair clips that we mentioned earlier. Add some extra thickness to your hair by using a clip-in bun.
First, you’ll want to section off two face-framing pieces in the front and tie those away while you style the rest of your hair. Next, using your scrunchies, you should tie your hair into two loose low ponytails, one on top and the other on the bottom. Once you’ve created two separate ponytails, you’ll need to gently fold each ponytail into half crescent-shaped circles holding them in place with bobby pins. Be sure to use bobby pins that match your hair color so they are readily undetectable.
[article handle=""2-minute-elegant-bun-hair-tutorial"]
Next, you want to create very loose curls with those face-framing pieces you sectioned off in the beginning. If you’re looking to protect your hair from heat damage, you can create heatless curls by using velcro rollers and keeping them in for three to five hours depending on how easily your hair can hold a curl.
If your hair is on the super straight side, you’ll want to leave the velcro rollers in for a longer period of time to allow your curls to set. If you’d rather spend your time sunbathing and enjoying your romantic getaway, simply spritz on some heat protectant (remember to comb it through your hair using a wide-tooth comb like we mentioned earlier) and curl those two face-framing pieces for about five seconds each and enjoy the rest of your honeymoon. If your face-framing curls are a little too tight, don’t worry, within an hour, especially if you’re honeymooning in a tropical environment, those curls will drop down to soft waves in no time.

It’s finally your big day and you can practically hear the wedding bells chiming in your head from the moment you wake up in the morning. We couldn’t think of a more glamorous wedding day hair look fit for a bride than a braided bun. Equal parts functional and fabulous, a braided bun is the perfect hairstyle to pull your hair away from your veil and allow your significant other to be enchanted by your beauty on your big day.
To recreate this look you’ll need: 1) a curling wand, 2) bobby pins, 3) a satin scrunchie, and 3) a strong hold hairspray.
Be sure to bring a hair extensions carrier to your wedding venue so your hair remains preserved. After clipping in your hair extensions, you should start by sectioning off two thick face-framing pieces at the front of your hair. Clip those sections away as you will be braiding them later. Next, grab two-inch wide-sized sections of your hair for each curl. By now, you know that you must apply a heat protectant spray before you apply heat to your hair. Once you begin the curling process, be sure to hold the curling wand to each section for no longer than five seconds at a time as you are looking to achieve soft and loose curls and be sure to only curl your hair about halfway down.
Once you reach the midpoint, you’ll want to mark the midpoint by bobby pinning your hair down in the center. Once you curled all of your hair and applied a bobby pin to the center section of each curl, grab the uncurled ends of your hair, section them into three parts and form one braid going down to the tip of your hair.
Now it’s time to unravel those two thick face-framing pieces and braid those down as well. Bobby pin those two braids down then grab the braid you created from the center point to tip of your hair to create a low chignon braided bun. For a more Bohemian-friendly look, unravel a few wispy pieces of your hair from the bun. Be sure to top your hair off with a strong hold hair spray.
And there you have it - a braided bun, fit for a princess.
[instagram id="CW3SZGPv7Bi"]
So your wedding festivities are over with and done, but you still want to keep your hair snatched to the nines. For days when you’re swapping out your wedding dress for a t-shirt and jeans, a side braid is the quintessential hairstyle. If you’re the type of girl who says “I’m on my way,” when you’re not even close to being ready, the side braid is the perfect last-minute hair look.
To recreate this look you’ll need a: 1) flat brush, 2) clear elastic rubber bands, 3) a sectioning tail comb, and 4) a deep conditioning hair mask
Start by making sure all of your hair is detangled before beginning the braiding process. It’s important to thoroughly detangle your hair before braiding because tangled, matted hair will constantly form knots as you repeatedly attempt to cross your hair over the center section to make a braid. The first step towards making sure your hair is detangled is to apply a repairing hair mask after shampooing. This will help to moisturize and replenish your hair. A hair mask is an especially important detangling method if you have curly hair, as it is always best practice to detangle curly hair when wet to prevent breakage. If you’re looking to stimulate hair growth and soothe your scalp, use a root massager while you allow the hair mask to process in your hair. Let the hair mask penetrate your hair for 15-20 minutes then rinse it out with lukewarm water and you’ll notice your hair is softer than ever.
[article handle="loop-waterfall-braid"]
Once blow dried, clip in your hair extensions. If you have curly or frizz-prone hair, you’ll want to be sure to apply gel to your roots to slick down your hair before braiding. Next, using a sectioning rat tail comb, part your hair to either your right or left side. Separate your hair into three sections then start crossing the right strand over the middle strand of hair, then repeat that motion with the left strand of your hair. Continue to repeat this sequence until you have successfully braided your hair right before you reach the tip. You’ll want to leave out about an inch of the tip of your hair, then grab a clear elastic rubber band (or one that matches your hair color) to fasten the braid.
Now, you’ve mastered the art of a side braid.

]]>Gone are the days of having to spend hours and a ton of money applying chemical relaxers to textured hair to achieve a silky straight look. The silk press is the safest way to straighten your hair without applying potentially harmful chemicals that may irritate your scalp, cause breakage and damage your curls.
The best part about having curly textured hair is that you get to mosey between the worlds of afros, twist-outs, top-knot buns, braided protective styles and straight hair whenever you see fit. A silk press is the perfect hair look for those days when you want to take a little break from your curls and coils. Before we dive into how you can safely protect your curls during a silk press, let’s first dip our toes into what exactly a silk press is.
A silk press is the process of straightening curly textured hair using a blow dryer followed by a flat iron. Silk presses are done on hair that is curly, natural and not chemically processed with a relaxer. If you’ve recently transitioned to natural hair, you know that one of the hard-and-fast rules of being a naturalista is to steer clear of excessive heat styling, which is why silk presses are perfectly healthy for your hair if done in moderation. It’s best to get a silk press during winter, fall or spring months because the humidity of summer months will cause your hair to revert back to its curly state and not maintain the straight, silky texture. It’s also best to do no more than three or four silk presses per year to avoid damaging your beautiful bouncy curls.
“One can receive a silk press every three to four months to maintain the health of their hair and to retain length without heat damage,” said celebrity hairstylist Le'Ana McKnight of West Hollywood’s Stylist Lee Studios.
What sets a silk press apart from a chemical relaxer is that it won’t alter your curl pattern the way a chemical relaxer will. When done frequently over time, chemical relaxers can permanently damage and loosen the pattern of your curls which can ultimately only be repaired by doing a “big chop” a.k.a. cutting off all of your hair right down to a buzz cut. So if you’re looking to safely achieve the straight hair look, while maintaining your curl pattern, the silk press is the best look for you.
“What the silk press did is give us back our power and also remind us of the magic within our hair and our skin. The updated press has movement, shine, body, and bounce" said celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen of the Ursula Stephen The Salon.
In order to do a silk press, you’ll need the following tools:
The first step you want to do before doing a silk press is to make sure your hair is freshly washed with a sulfate-free shampoo and free of any product buildup. Excess product buildup will leave your hair stiff and motionless instead of soft and bouncy.
The reason you want to be sure to use a sulfate-free shampoo is because shampoos with sulfates will leave your curls extremely dry and coarse. After shampooing your hair, apply a hair mask for 15-20 minutes, which will hydrate and replenish every inch of your tresses. If you have overly dry and/or damaged hair, you want to be sure to apply a Length Repairing Hair Mask, which will help to repair split ends, reduce frizz and provide an extra blast of moisture to your hair cuticles.
During winter months natural hair textures become especially dry due to frigid temperatures and common accessories such as wool hats and scarves so a hair mask is a must-have for the winter season when your hair starts to shed more than usual.
[article handle="winter-hair-products"]
After applying a hair mask for 15-20 minutes, you’ll need to rinse it out using lukewarm water. After rinsing, allow your hair to air dry until it reaches a damp state. Once your hair is on the damper side, you’ll need to apply a moisturizing leave-in conditioner to get your hair just a tad bit softer and leave your curls extra hydrated. Next, you’ll need to apply a heat protectant spray to protect your hair from heat damage before using any heat styling tools. The heat protectant will help to protect your curls by creating a barrier between your hair and the blow dryer and flat iron, seal in moisture in your hair cuticles and help smooth out frizz.
Next, you want to begin to prep your hair for the silk press process. You should start by sectioning off your hair into four separate sections (two sections on the top of your head and two sections at the bottom of your head), using scrunchies or hair clips. Sectioning off your hair instead of blow drying it all at once will allow you grab small sections and be able to precisely straighten out your hair. After you’ve divided your hair into four individual sections you’ll want to start from one of the back sections and take out about an inch of hair out of your scrunchie or hair clip and start blow drying your hair. Repeat that process until your hair is entirely dry and as straight as you can get it using a blow dryer.
Once you’ve blow dried your hair, you’ll want to put the top part of your hair back up and separate the back section only. Starting from the back section, you’ll want to get as close to your roots as possible and start flat ironing your hair. Getting close to the roots will help your hair be soft, flowy and bouncy. Since you’ve already blow dried your hair to get it nice and straight, you want to make sure you only do one pass of the flat iron to your hair to protect your curls from being heat damaged. Doing multiple passes over time will lead to hair breakage because it will deplete your hair of the natural oils it produces.
[article handle="7-ways-to-prevent-hair-damage"]
After you’ve flat ironed your entire hair, you can do a doobie wrap, (which consists of wrapping your hair in a circular motion) on your hair and hold it in place using a plastic wrap to continue to protect your hair from heat then sit under an overhead or bonnet hair dryer for 15 minutes to seal the silk press in. This will also help your silk press to last longer.
After 15 minutes you can unravel your hair from the plastic wrap and spritz a little finishing oil-based hair spray and voilà, your hair is silk pressed and slayed. Want to add more volume to that beautiful silky hair? Clip on a set of hair extensions to give your hair that extra dose of body to make it bigger and better. If your hair is on the shorter side, check out our TikTok tutorial on how to blend hair extensions with shorter hair.
Typically a silk press will last for around 2-3 weeks. Luckily there are ways to make your new do last longer. Below are some maintenance tips on how to keep your silk press looking perfect.
Remember that doobie wrap you did to seal in the silk press? This is exactly how you want to continue to wrap your hair up every night before going to bed. You can also pin curl your hair using bobby pins if you’re looking to do a wavy haired look. Once you’ve doobie wrapped or pin curled your hair, you should tie a silk/satin scarf and/or bonnet around your head to protect it from drying out and becoming frizzy as you toss around while you are asleep. Consider also purchasing a silk or satin based pillowcase because cotton pillowcases cause friction that leads to your hair becoming dry.
[article handle="how-to-protect-your-hair-while-sleeping"]
If you have curly hair then you know that getting your hair wet is going to cause it to revert back to its curly state and when you have a silk press you want to maintain those straight locks for as long as possible. This is why it’s important that you stay away from water. When showering, be sure to protect your hair by wearing a bonnet and shower cap to keep your hair from puffing back up again. You also want to avoid hot saunas as the humidity will also cause your hair to curl back up again. On rainy days, you want to be sure to wear a hat (try wearing one lined with satin instead of cotton) and always carry an umbrella around.
Hair with split ends will tangle up in a heartbeat because the splits will make their way up to your roots. Think of when you get a hole at the bottom of your favorite pair of stockings and that tear travels upwards and ends up completely ruining that pair of stockings. That’s exactly what happens to your hair when you have split ends. This is why it’s super important to trim your hair after getting a silk press. Trimming your hair will also make it fuller and fluffier and most importantly, your hair will be healthier than ever.
[article handle="how-to-get-rid-of-split-ends"]
Once you’ve gotten a silk press, you want to be sure not to continue flat ironing your hair on a daily basis. Continuing to flat iron your hair daily after getting a silk press will be just as damaging as a chemical relaxer and can cause your curl pattern to be completely destroyed over time. Instead, if you see that there’s a section of your hair that is curling up again, simply apply a dollop-sized amount of hair gel to slick your hair back into place.
As we mentioned earlier, excess product buildup causes your hair to become stiff and motionless which is a no-no when it comes to maintaining a silk press. Using too many products will weigh down your hair and cause itchiness in your scalp, which can lead to breakage.

The moment the baby is born—the magic of a new tiny human in our lives takes over, but this doesn’t mean moms aren’t still dealing with a lot of stress. Giving birth causes massive changes to happen in the body and emotions can be at an all time high as mothers are in the midst of post partum recovery.
While mom influencers on social media may show us well-lit and effortless pictures of her vacationing with their newborn, the reality is postpartum actually feels like a mix of contradictory and confusing emotions where you can feel exhausted and happy, beautiful and insecure and in pain and ecstatic all at the same time.
Your postpartum journey is all about realizing that two contrasting feelings can coexist. Like the incredible joy of holding your sweet newborn while not being able to set aside the baby blues. Like being so proud of what your body is capable of, yet feeling so unfamiliar with it. The period of postpartum feels like being in unknown territory, but being so glad you’re there.
As a new mom myself, the first few weeks after giving birth were some of the hardest days I’ve experienced—and no one prepared me for it. I would argue that experiencing postpartum was even harder than giving birth. Yes, there were tons of resources around what to do when you bring a baby home, but I was still left questioning how to take care of myself, both physically and mentally. The journey of postpartum recovery is long and hard for some, and quick for others—whatever your case might be, here are some reminders to take note of as you navigate this new phase of life.
Here are 11 things I wish I knew about postpartum recovery sooner.
As a new mom, you’ve probably already heard everyone telling you how much sleep you’re going to lose soon—please, don’t let that mess with your mind. Rest is essential, and the quickest way for your body to recover. Allow your body and mind to rest each day. That might look different for each of us. Some days, it’s making sure you take a nap while someone you trust stays with the baby, or taking a soothing bath. Rest should be one of your top priorities in your postpartum recovery journey.
[article handle="manifest-healthy-hair"]
The hard reality is: there is no quick bounceback. The baby bump doesn’t disappear completely even after you’ve given birth. While some bodies recover quicker than others, it doesn’t mean the former is better than the latter. Remind yourself everyday of the incredible things your body has done for you and your baby—there is no greater blessing than honoring yourself and your body for creating, and sustaining life.
So remember, it is completely normal to not immediately fit into your favorite jeans or your favorite top—but that day isn’t too far. For now, remember to focus on the snuggles, because that newborn phase flies by quick!
The dramatic drop in your hormones right after you have your baby is the reason you might be thinking not-so-nice thoughts, or having a major breakdown every time the sun sets—don’t push these feelings down. Feel them, talk about them, seek help and talk to a therapist. The most important thing to know is you are not your thoughts. There is a reason you are having scary, unnatural thoughts, and it’s all part of the postpartum process. It’s a scary place to be in, but I promise you, it’s all temporary. For now, ground yourself in the truth, love on your baby and stay close to the ones you love.
IMP: Please reach out to a loved one and/or therapist if you are experiencing signs of Postpartum Depression or Postpartum Anxiety. There is help available for you, and you are entitled to every bit of it.
It’s hard to admit but one of the most embarrassing and heartbreaking things was losing hair. Having your hair done, even if your makeup + outfit isn’t making you feel put together—the girls that get it, get it. So losing hair was such a helpless experience to go through.
But good things come in pretty packages, I believe. Specifically round, pink, pretty packages. These Fourth Trimester clip in hair extensions have saved me from feeling embarrassed about my hair and empowered me to feel like my best self on the not-so-pretty days. I wear the shade Off Black for a natural everyday look. Scroll right down to see why I love and choose to wear these clip-ins for my postpartum days.
When you’re in the thick of it, it feels like you will never be yourself again. Like you’ve lost who you are. Your body and mind feel a little bit alien, but trust me when I say, it all comes back. Enjoy the season you’re in right now—soak up the newborn cuddles, and late night feeds. Thrive in the fact that you are stepping into a new version of yourself—there is so much benefit in seeing yourself for all you’re becoming instead of holding on to who you were in the past.
Even if you’re staying home with the baby all day, dress up. I know it’s easier said than done, but trust me when I say it will change your day, Wear your favorite sweatsuit, or matching lounge set—feeling put together automatically gives you the dopamine boost you need. Some days you just won’t feel like getting out of bed, but on other days, spend those five minutes fully focused on yourself. Put on your concealer, clip in the extensions, spritz on your favorite perfume; every little action helps.
[article handle="vitamins-hair-loss"]
Don’t set aside your mental health, remember that your mind needs just as much attention as your body in your postpartum recovery journey. Here are a few simple things you can do everyday:
You’re probably processing a million things a minute right now—but remember to stay present. The dishes can wait, the laundry can wait. This is your time to rest, reset and fully engage with your baby. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Getting caught in worrying about clothes, dishes, laundry will only take up unwanted space in your mind. Instead, let your heart lead you. Soak up the newborn cuddles (it goes by quick!), there will always be time to fix the house.
As soon as you become a mom, the flood of advice directed at you is sometimes overwhelming. This is the perfect time to practice and engage in your mom instinct—for you and your baby. Remember that you know best when it comes to making decisions for, and taking care of yourself and your baby. Take the advice, but do what’s best for you.
[article handle="30-best-hair-masks-for-dry damaged-hair"]
Use this time to fully be present with your baby—get in lots of skin-to-skin interactions, soak up every sound, enjoy every little smile. We end up missing these precious moments because we’re worried about the way our bodies look. Take time to remind yourself that your body is running its natural course. It will recover, you will feel like yourself again.
With celebrities, influencers and fellow moms now posting their journey on social media, it can be easy to compare your journey, your progress to theirs. Remember that every body recovers at their own pace—your journey is only yours. So while you wait for your hair to grow out, wear the extensions to feel better. While you wait to feel strong and workout again, go out on walks to feel energized—do the little that’s good for you right now.

Nawal in Off Black Bronde Balayage Hair Fill Ins with baby Hannah (18 months)
Dry! Very thin. And I would also say a very big part of my identity.
It’s funny because growing up I really did not like my hair. I felt like it was always the wrong texture or the wrong color. And then after I had my little ones, you know, I almost felt like I didn't really have a choice to like it or dislike it. Because it was just what it is. After that I began taking better care of my hair because it was evident that it was so important to me.
I'd say before having kids, there was a lot of my hair where I could naturally flip to one side and it would just look great. The texture was also a little bit easier to work with. Whereas now it's become increasingly dry and it's a lot harder to just leave it as is. After I had my little ones I started to lose a lot of my hair especially right just around the front. And that became obviously harder to style harder to I had to work a lot harder to almost hide that that hair loss.
One of the hardest things to go through after pregnancy is having all these changes happening to your body. I lost a lot more hair with my second child than with my first. And you think at some point it ends and you get to go back to who you were, but you don't and your body continues to change in so many different ways. So it was a lot more difficult to cope with that just because of everything else we're dealing with right after you have a baby as it is.
[article handle="30-best-hair-masks-for-dry-damaged-hair"]
I think before childbirth, I think I just had a lot more time to take care of my hair or to do things with my hair where I'd you know, I'd go style it, I put some effort into it. Whereas now as much as I care about and as much as I want to take care of it. Time is limited. So I do as much as I can with the time that I have. Something easy and fast. Now I try to keep it as natural or easy as possible. A quick blow dry, a low bun. Or even braids.
I’ve always been very focused on my personal goals and career. But ever since I became a mom it’s changed a bit since it’s not just about me anymore. I feel like I have a responsibility to leave this world a better place for them. My priorities have shifted, but definitely for the better. I think, you know, I often say this at work all the time that being a mom has actually made me a better contributor to my workplace and a better contributor to society, I feel like I have more ownership of the world.
I put two clips on each side and it takes about two minutes to apply. It was super easy to use. The fact that it blends into my hair with very little effort is awesome. I think the ease by the way they clip in and how little i needed to put in to make it look this good is incredible.
Sometimes self care can be as easy as being able to enjoy a cup of coffee. That's something I like to do on a daily basis, I will wait until the kids are out of the house before I enjoy a cup of coffee. The other big thing is working out. It’s something that's important to me, and I try to do it as often as I can. But again, when the kids aren't around, I get the chance to connect with my body a little bit more and get some mental rest.
[article handle="post-pregnancy-hair-loss"]
To me, I think the modern mom looks like whatever the modern mom wants to look like. I think we're finally at a place where we're past passing judgment and it's truly about just embracing motherhood and everything that comes with it. So all the power to whatever any mom wants to look like and I think that's exactly what I think where we should be heading and where we should be.
Christine in Chocolate Brown Hair Fill Ins and Sawyer (8 months old)
Always changing, messy and breezy. Right now I am only washing my hair once or twice a week because my hair is falling out a lot. So instead of having to collect it in the shower, I'd rather keep it on my head.
It’s also been messy because Sawyer likes to pull my hair. So I tend to keep it in a bun or throw it up in a claw clip so he can’t tug away.
I’m a first time mom so it’s definitely been an adjustment especially through a global pandemic. During pregnancy my hair was thick but afterwards i definitely noticed the post partum hair loss and thinning in my scalp which makes me self conscious sometimes when I try to put it up in a ponytail.
[article handle="scalp-scrubs"]
Before my hair was usually down and curled but like I mentioned, he loves to pull on my hair, especially at that age when you're holding him.
After giving birth I started noticing the postpartum hair loss on my forehead which is really hard to hide. Then I experienced some shedding in my scalp which made me self conscious about wearing a ponytail. It definitely put a damper on my self esteem when I went from a full head of hair to having to brush it out until you could hide certain spots. It makes it hard to just look good because you’re always nit picking those little things. I'm sure people don't really notice it but you are always your own worst critic sometimes.
Right now the messy bun mom look is my go to everyday hairstyle or a claw clip look. So it's very rare my hair was down just because I feel like it's thin, it doesn't feel as glamorous.
it's definitely been a different journey in terms of self love, especially. Because you spend nine months growing a baby and your body changes to a foreign territory. And then you give birth and you're required to not only take care of this hopeless baby, but yourself. And you don't have time to do the things that you usually do. Something as simple as you know, taking a shower and washing your hair is no longer something that is at the top of your list. So priorities have definitely changed. My hair and make up routine has definitely changed.
Communicating with your partner is really important. Or anyone to help you out occasionally so you can carve time out for some me-time in your day. It could be soaking in a bubble bath or reading a book, even scrapbooking. It’s all about finding time when you also have a baby to take care of.
Now that Sawyer is eight months we have a schedule. He goes to bed around six or seven o’clock and then I stay up until midnight. That time in between is when I carve out time for myself. Taking that bubble bath, reading a book and lighting a candle and meditating. Or something fun that takes me back to who I am. And not just what I am as a mother.
Motherhood is not easy but it’s all worth it in the end. You get to watch this little person become a person and making sure the world is a beautiful place for your baby. They are the source of your life.
I'm definitely learning how to be more patient [laughs]. It’s definitely been a challenge to adapt from taking care of just yourself to taking care of your child, partner and home. So it's definitely been a learning curve.
In terms of what else I've learned, it is how to love unconditionally. Having a child completely changes how you open your heart. You think you know what love is until you create a child and they become your whole world.
Motherhood is not easy, that's for sure. But it's always worth it in the end because you get to watch this little person become a person and they're half of you. So you definitely learn a lot
The modern mom can do anything. And she chooses what she wants to be. Just because you are a mom doesn’t mean you have to be a full time parent at home. You could be the breadwinner. So I love that we have the choice to choose. We can follow our passions but also choose to be home with the babies if we want. Or we could do both!
Bryar in Bronde Balalyage Hair Fill ins with Gunner (8 weeks old)
My hair definitely feels like it’s thinning after childbirth. I started losing hair around my temples and towards the back of my head. I had a lot of my hair before giving birth so it’s been kind of a shock.
Before having Gunner i did not wear my hair natural very often. I always wanted to make sure my hair was done and perfect all the time but now…there’s just no time anymore [laughs]
[article handle="thin-hair-care"]
It feels surprising to have hair extensions in my hair. I’m shocked by how natural they feel I really assumed that there would be like a heavy weight to them or that I would easily notice where my natural hair started and where the extensions were but it's really hard to tell! They’ve blended in seamlessly. It feels really special to have full beautiful volumized hair.
Motherhood hasn't changed the way that I view myself for the most part. But it did make me come to the realization how strong you can be as a woman. We were in the hospital with Gunnar for a long time and then he finally came six weeks early. And I was shocked at just how much strength mums have. There’s no other options so you just have to get it done.
When he was born my priorities shifted drastically. Everyone told me that would happen but when it finally did I just felt this strong pull of emotion towards him immediately.
Motherhood means strength and resiliency to me. I think that every mom shows that in different ways, whether they choose to stay home, or they choose to be a working mom. But regardless, I didn't really understand how strong you had to be as a mom until I gave birth.
The modern mom is someone not necessarily defined by motherhood. A mom can be whoever a mom wants to be.
There's no denying that the early stages of motherhood are no walk in the park. Of course, these moments of anguish and sleep deprivation are interspersed with ones that feel impossibly gratifying. Your baby smiles at you, the first tight grip on your pinky finger, and all the other moments of tenderness shared between a mother and her newborn often bring a sense of unmatched joy. We want you to be able to focus on these special moments while still taking the time to care for yourself.
If you're dealing with postpartum hair loss and find yourself unsure of why or how to cope, we've got everything you need to know so you can put your mind at ease. Plus, we've got the scoop on how to combat the problem so you can enjoy full, voluminous hair while your hormones rebalance and your hair growth is restored.
If you're wondering what on earth is causing your postpartum hair loss, the first thing to note is that you are most certainly not alone. Whether you've noticed you seem to be losing a bit more hair than usual or you feel your hair is significantly thinning, rest assured that hair loss happens to many women after childbirth.
So, why exactly is this the case? Well, it starts with pregnancy. You may have noticed your hair felt particularly thick and shiny during pregnancy. That's because of hormonal fluctuations that naturally occur and estrogen, especially, has a significant impact on your hair cycles. In short, the spike in estrogen that occurs in the body during pregnancy, coupled with the increased blood flow, slows down your normal rate of hair fall. Hence, the thicker hair that results. However, once you deliver your baby, these hormone levels drop causing sudden and significant hair fall.
This can be devastating at the onset but you can take solace in the fact that for most women, this typically isn't more hair loss than what would have occurred over the past 9 months if you had not been pregnant, though it is happening in one large episode.
Postpartum hair loss typically begins 2 to 4 months after childbirth. In most cases, this is totally normal and your hair will restore itself naturally within 6 months to a year. Basically, if it feels like your hair is falling out in large chunks and you think you're about to go bald sometime soon, don't worry as this is just your body's way of recalibrating and your growth patterns should go back to normal in due time.
[article handle="postpartum-hair-loss-and-motherhood"]
Experiencing hair fall after pregnancy is both natural and normal, so you can't really stop it entirely. However, there are a few ways you can keep your hair healthy and prevent damage while it is replenishing itself, while also helping your hair look fuller.
We recommend keeping the heat styling to a minimum as this can cause unnecessary damage and also get rid of natural volume which will make your hair look fuller. As well, the styling process can be pretty rough (think round brushes and lots of pulling) which can accelerate the hair fall process, so it's best to limit this wherever possible.
If you can't live without your curling iron, then we definitely recommend using a heat protectant spray beforehand to limit the amount of damage.
It's also advisable to eat a balanced diet to help facilitate hair growth and help rebalance your hormones. Dark, leafy greens, fruit, healthy fats, and whole grains contain lots of essential vitamins such as iron, vitamin C, magnesium, and omega-3s. Some doctors may also suggest taking a multivitamin or continuing with your prenatal vitamin to help combat hair loss.
Apart from this, using natural hair care that's aimed at adding volume back into your hair can be helpful at concealing bald spots or thinning.
Of course, reducing stress is essential. This might mean taking long, relaxing baths, meditating, going for walks, and just taking the time to pamper yourself. Caring for a newborn can be a lot to manage so make sure to carve some time out of your schedule to give yourself some rest and relaxation.

While purple shampoos will not make your hair lighter (or turn your hair purple), they will neutralize brassiness and make dull locks shine brighter than ever.
The reason that taking your hair to a brighter, blonder hair tone typically requires more upkeep is because it lifts your hair’s base color. In comparison to dyeing your hair a darker shade, bleach requires more processing and chemicals. This leaves the hair more vulnerable to breakage by opening the cuticle and allowing UV rays, pollution, and other pollutants to enter. It also prevents hair from retaining moisture, which in turn makes color appear dull and brassy. The good news is purple shampoos will help you say bye bye to brassiness.
Whether you’ve gone platinum blonde, silver, or just want to add vibrancy to your natural blonde locks, you should consider keeping a purple shampoo on hand. Here’s everything you need to know about these violet-based alternatives, along with 10 of the best purple shampoos on the market.
Purple shampoo is a must-have for blonde manes. But what does purple shampoo do? Just as the name suggests, purple shampoo is a purple pigmented formula that helps keep yellow and brassy undertones at bay. Designed as an at-home toning system, the formula helps maintain blonde hair’s brightness in between salon appointments and neutralize unwanted pigments.
Why purple? It’s all about the color wheel theory. Shades on the opposite of the wheel cancel each other out, which means purple pigments help counteract yellow tones in blonde hair. The results of purple shampoo before and after show a clear reduction of warm and yellow colors. The same color correction principle is used in makeup, such as using green concealer to tone down skin redness.
Blonde hair, especially dyed blonde hair, has the most to gain from purple shampoo. However, brunettes can benefit from purple shampoo too! If you are a brunette with ombre, highlights or balayage, then you can also benefit from using this violet-based product.
Purple shampoos function as an effective toner for brown hair since they often deal with the same brassiness and color changes. The dyed sections of hair can become dry and damaged, revealing underlying warmer and yellow pigments.
[article handle="dry-thin-frizzy-curly-best-shampoo-for-all-hair-types"]
With tons of purple shampoos on the market right now, it can be difficult to choose just one. A good general rule of thumb to follow is the lighter the shade of purple, the more subtle the results. Quality purple shampoos will have a thicker consistency, deeper purple color, and will not appear as translucent.
Typically purple shampoo can be used just like your normal shampoo. For your first wash, use a deep cleansing shampoo to lift any yellowish deposit from product use, the environment, or heat styling tools. Then, use your purple shampoo of choice. Lather the shampoo throughout wet hair and let it sit for up to 15 minutes, depending on your brassiness level. Since purple shampoo has toning properties, it will continue to tone your hair as long as you leave it in. Always read product directions and rinse hair thoroughly after washing.
Experts advise people to be careful when using violet-based shampoos. If you have icy-blonde hair and leave a purple shampoo on too long, your hair will end up having a blue-purple tinge to it. Always be sure to read instructions carefully and time your session. If your hair does start to take on a lavender or blue tint, cut back on washes and supplement with your normal shampoo.
[article handle="attn-all-blondes-how-to-maintain-the-perfect-blonde-shade"]
Colorists note that it’s easy to overuse purple shampoo since it can have a drying effect. It’s best to use a color safe shampoo and conditioner for your normal routine, but then add in purple shampoo in between washes.
If you typically wash your hair twice a week, it’s best to use purple shampoo once a week. Keep in mind that purple shampoo should not replace your regular shampoo and should only be used once or twice a week. Overusing it can lead to build up and dullness, or even make you immune to the product. Luxy's Balancing Purple Shampoo can be used on natural hair and blonde extensions as well to keep the color looking vibrant.
We don’t mean to brag but our vegan purple shampoo does a fantastic job of combatting brassy tones in blonde hair while adding hydration with avocado and babassu oil.
Use this shampoo for your hair extensions if you need to restore their vibrancy or on your natural hair as a hair treatment.
2. Moroccan Oil's Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo
Consistently ranked as one of the overall best purple shampoos by Allure and other beauty sites, this Moroccan Oil shampoo fights brassiness in blonde, lightened brunette, and even gray hair. The nourishing formula contains argan oil and is sulfate-free, meaning wavy, curly, and coily hair types can use it without worrying their hair will be stripped of moisture. It also works a charm for straight hair types, too.
3. Oribe's Bright Blonde Shampoo
While a bit of a splurge, this sulfate-free shampoo from Oribe is super gentle and will work to bring out blonde tones in your hair. It’s a great choice for those with heat-damaged or curly locks. The best part is that it will protect your strands out of the shower from UV rays and dullness.
4. John Freida's Violet Crush for Blondes
A total drugstore deal, you will start to see brassiness disappear after just one use of this shampoo. Experts suggest leaving it in hair for a few minutes before minutes to help blonde tones look their best.
5. Kevin Murphy's Blonde Angel Wash
While purple shampoos can have a drying effect, the sunflower seed oil in the Kevin Murphy Blonde Angel Wash gives dried out strands a healthy dose of moisture. There’s also ingredients like olive and linseed to keep hair strong.
Fortified with hyaluronic acid, this shampoo will deliver maximum hydration with every use. The purple pigments are highly concentrated, ensuring blonde and gray tones will be maintained between salon visits. Perfect for any hair texture or shade of blonde.
7. Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo
A top pick for highlighted hair, this budget-friendly shampoo has been around for decades. The highly pigmented shampoo tones all-over brassiness and livens up faded highlights, helping them look their absolute best.
8. Paul Mitchell's Platinum Blonde Shampoo
If you’re a blonde who likes a soft beige tone without brass or silver, then this Paul Mitchell shampoo is for you. The violet-tinted formula neutralizes brassy tones in the lightest of blondes, making it a must for platinum blondes.
9. SheaMoisture Purple Rice Water Strength + Color Care Shampoo
The star ingredient in this shampoo is rice water, which leaves hair soft, clean, and visibly brighter. Not to mention that this purple shampoo smells amazing. If you have damaged hair, the ultra-hydrating formula with organic shea butter, jojoba oil, and argan oil will help restore moisture.
10. Pravana The Perfect Blonde Shampoo
Thanks to a nourishing combination of amino acids, jojoba, and coconut oil, this purple shampoo will keep strands shiny and moisturized. Of course it will also neutralize and give your bleached, highlighted, or natural color a deep reset.

If you have extremely dry, damaged hair, baobab oil will give you the burst of hydration that your hair so desperately craves. It’s moisturizing properties work its way through every inch of your scalp, which helps to heal your damaged hair follicles. The oil is composed of omega fatty acids three, six and nine, which make it one of the most hydrating oils on the market. Baobab oil works great for those with dry hair and iis a definite must-have for those with type 3 or type 4 hair which tends to be drier than other hair types.
Baobab oil is also a great detangling agent. It has an acid profile which consists of one-third saturated fats, one-third monounsaturated fats, and one-third polyunsaturated fats. When these fats penetrate your hair cuticles, they separate any knots and pieces that may be stuck together, leaving your hair soft and smooth. Our wide tooth Cloud Comb can help you get rid of knots and tangles.
[article handle="heatless-curls-tiktok-hacks"]
Baobab oil is also a great product to repair an itchy, flaky scalp or dandruff. If left untreated your scalp can become a host for harmful bacterias that will lead to excessive hair loss, but regularly using baobab oil will help to stop harmful bacteria dead in its tracks. It’s anti-inflammatory properties also help to combat an irritated scalp. Baobab oil is a perfect fit for those who may have skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, which can often inflame the scalp.
It protects your hair (and skin) from pollution and Ultraviolet rays
Let’s face it - most of our environments are in full-on crisis mode. But baobab oil provides your hair with an extra layer of protection for both your hair and skin. It also has insulation properties that help protect your hair from extremely cold or warm temperatures.
Have you ever applied oil to your hair only to realize that it made your hair look greasy and weighed down? Baobab oil does the complete opposite. It provides a blast of moisture to your hair, leaving you with a soft and silky finish that looks lightweight and natural.
Baobab oil contains an extraordinary amount of collagen, which helps to build up keratin proteins in your hair which is the key to hair growth. Whether you can’t seem to grow your hair past a certain length or you’ve recently undergone a “big chop,” baobab oil will grow out your tresses in no time. If you’re looking to expedite the growth process, use a length repairing hair mask at least once a week.
If you have weak and brittle hair strands, especially due to chemical damage, baobab oil can help strengthen and rejuvenate your hair strands. Because it’s so rich in vitamins and nutrients, it helps to replenish your hair cells and will not only strengthen your hair, but as we mentioned earlier, will also promote hair growth.
Because it’s so rich in collagen, baobab oil has great anti-aging properties that can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Not only is the vitamin C it contains great for your hair, but it also is great for your skin. It helps to reduce dark spots and hyperpigmentation that is often caused by acne scars. It also helps to balance the production of the natural oils that your skin produces. This is a great benefit because excessively oily skin can often lead to severe acne breakouts.
[article handle="how-to-get-rid-of-dandruff"]
Whether it’s hereditary or caused by a lack of sleep, many of us suffer from dark undereye circles, puffy eyes and bags. Baobab oil helps to brighten and depuff your under eye area.
#9: It strengthens your immune system
Because our bodies can’t naturally produce Vitamin C, eating baobab fruit can help to fulfill one-third of the recommended Vitamin C intake.
Baobab oil can be applied to your hair in a number of different ways either as a pre-shampoo treatment, with other hair oils, a conditioning treatment or a leave-in cream.
You can use baobab oil as a pre-shampoo (also known as pre-poo) treatment to your hair. Those who have curly hair textures know that a good pre-shampoo treatment can help to cut your hair wash time in half.
We loved this ingredient so much we ended up adding it to our Luminous Hair Oil Treatment which contains a blend of baobab oil, coconut oil and kukui nut oil to add some extra shine.
To apply baobab oil as a pre-shampoo treatment, warm it up in a bowl for approximately 30 seconds in the microwave. Once ready, apply the warmed oil from root to tip. As you would do with a normal pre-shampoo treatment, you can leave it on your hair for up to 30 minutes, throw on a shower cap to add some heat to your hair and seal in the product then rinse it out and proceed with your regular shampoo routine.
If you’re looking for extreme moisture, you can also leave the oil on overnight, apply a headwrap for protection then wash it out and shampoo as normal in the morning. We recommend using a charcoal detox shampoo to give your hair a solid, clarifying cleanse.
Coconut oil is arguably the veteran of all hair and skin oils. Together baobab oil and coconut oil make the most beautiful luminous shine hair oil that your hair will thank you for later. To achieve these amazing results, mix one-third coconut oil with one-third baobab oil in a bowl then warm it up for approximately 30 seconds just as we recommended for the pre-shampoo treatment. Next you’ll want to divide your hair into four sections (our Tortoise clips are perfect for this!) and apply the baobab and coconut oil mixture onto your hair from root to tip. Leave the mixture on your hair for no longer than 45 minutes then rinse it out, shampoo then style your hair as usual with your favorite pair of hair extensions.
[article handle="7-diy-hair-masks-we-know-youll-love"]
Because of its potent moisturizing properties, baobab oil can also be used as a conditioner. In lieu of your usual conditioner, apply baobab oil to your hair, letting it set for about 10 minutes then rinsing it out. You can also mix your favorite high gloss smoothing conditioner with about a quarter of baobab oil for soft bouncy locks.
So far we’ve shown you how you can apply and rinse off baobab oil to provide a blast of moisture to your hair. But did you know you can also apply baobab oil after washing and conditioning your hair? Baobab oil is a great mixing agent to add to leave-in conditioning treatments then applied to either damp or dry hair. Mix just about one part baobab oil with four parts leave-in conditioner then apply the mixture to your freshly washed hair then style as usual for beautiful silky locks.
Hair care is self care and there’s no better way of taking care of your hair than making sure it’s hydrated, healthy and damage free. While you may have previously slept on baobab oil, we’re happy to open your eyes to a beauty product we’re sure will be a mainstay in your hair routine.

Before work, I love having a breakfast shake and listening to a podcast to ease into the day. I like starting work early to get my everyday tasks out of the way before working on special projects.
Some of those tasks include engaging with affiliate content on socials, researching new affiliates and influencers for upcoming campaigns, and reviewing affiliate applications.
Afterward, I work on other tasks and projects including TikTok & YouTube content creation, creating campaign decks, and helping out with managing influencers and affiliates.
I’m pretty minimal when it comes to fashion and I love comfort so most days you can find me in a crewneck, sweatpants, and a top knot bun. On Fridays I film content so I use that day to play around with some more fashionable outfits!

Great hair starts with a healthy hair routine – when’s the last time you gave your hair habits a health check?
Whether it’s been a couple months, several years, or never (no judgment) the good news is a healthy hair routine isn’t rocket science. It’s all about identifying what your hair needs and having the right natural hair products to keep your hair looking and feeling great.
The number one hair need is moisture – you want a routine and natural hair products that deliver moisture and help lock it in. Depending on your hair type, you may also need hair products that lock in color or curls, help pump up the volume or repair any damage. The basics of a healthy hair routine include a great shampoo, conditioner, masks, and heat protectant. Natural hair products or organic hair products are also A++ on the healthy hair routine chart.
At Luxy, we have your hair extensions and your natural hair covered whether you’re looking to overhaul your hair routine, try something new, or still looking for what works best for your hair. Luxy’s new Wetline Haircare Collection features all the natural hair product staples you need. And did we mention that all these products are vegan too?
Let’s start with the wash: How often you should wash your hair will depend on several factors, but most especially hair type. However, the general rule of thumb is you should wash your hair every 2-3 days.
Reducing the number of times you wash your hair allows your scalp’s natural oils to nourish and moisturize your hair, while washing too often (or with harsh chemicals) strips your hair’s natural moisture and oils leading to dry, damaged hair and sometimes, itchy, flaky scalp.
Washing every few days is a hard habit to build up to, especially if you have oily hair or, just prefer a daily wash. When looking for a shampoo, you want one that not only cleanses, but nourishes. Luxy’s Charcoal Detox Shampoo does both. A natural detox shampoo with Organic Baobab Oil, Activated Charcoal, Aloe Vera, and more, Luxy’s Charcoal Detox Shampoo cleanses hair and scalp of product build-up and offers an extra deep clean compared to other shampoos, by helping to pull out impurities without stripping hair.
What makes this natural shampoo the best of both the cleansing and moisturizing worlds? The natural ingredients. Here’s a breakdown of what to look for:
Organic Baobab Oil is derived from the baobab fruit a “superfruit” that has naturally occurring levels of omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamin C.
Used in several skincare products, activated charcoal helps to draw out impurities from deep within the pores. The shampoo also contains Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, a natural preservative and cleaning agent that helps to remove buildup without stripping hair of natural oils. Organic Apple Cider Vinegar also helps to seal the hair’s cuticle and helps to restore a healthy pH level. Organic Apple Cider Vinegar also helps soothe itchy scalp, dandruff, and naturally detangles.
Luxy’s Charcoal Detox Shampoo also contains Aloe Vera which is well-known for its anti-inflammatory and calming effects while also being moisturizing and hydrating.
It also has Grape Seed Oil which not only leaves hair soft and moisturized but also helps to restore hair's natural shine and vibrancy. Finally, the shampoo also has Vitamin B-5 which naturally shine and luster to dull hair while also improving tensile strength.
Natural hair products like this one do not contain sulfates, parabens or phthalates – hair stripping ingredients that can damage and dry out your hair.
Probably one of the best parts of this shampoo is that it’s safe for all hair types, color-treated hair, and even your hair extensions.
Hair extensions should be washed every 30 days on average. Should you use styling products on your hair extensions, you may need to wash more often. We have an easy to follow tutorial on how to wash your hair extensions.
In any good hair routine, a good shampoo is followed by an even better conditioner. Luxy’s High-Gloss Smoothing Conditioner is the perfect step 2 following your shampoo. The High-Gloss Smoothing Conditioner is a deeply hydrating, creamy and luxurious conditioner that cleanses and conditions hair leaving it silky smooth, shiny, and tangle-free.
[article handle="how-often-should-i-wash-my-hair"]
Our conditioner also contains a lot of the same beneficial ingredients as the shampoo, including Organic Baobab Oil, Aloe Vera, Vitamin B-5 and grapeseed oil. But it also adds Organic Shea Butter, a natural source of fatty acid-rich moisture, Linseed Oil, which contains omega-3 alpha linolenic acid and vitamin E which encourages hair growth and helps keep hair strong, shiny healthy.
After shampooing, gently squeeze out any excess water in your hair and massage the conditioner throughout the length of the hair, focusing on the ends. Massage or leave the conditioned in for 3 -5 minutes then rinse thoroughly.
Repeat the shampoo and conditioner process on all your wash days to see a change in your hair’s strength, shine, and moisture.
While both new products mentioned above are safe for color-treated hair, we had to make something especially for our blondes – whose color can be drastically impacted by the wrong shampoo and products.
Luxy’s Balancing Purple Shampoo is specially formulated to maintain and brighten blonde hair, while also correcting any brassiness and neutralizing yellow tones that occur over time.
This gentle shampoo is formulated with pure violet pigments and also contains natural Organic Babassu Oil – especially important to help keep color-treated hair moisturized as the color chemicals can naturally dry out hair.
Whether your hair is salon blonde or natural, Luxy’s Balancing Purple Shampoo contains Organic Avocado Oil which is full of protein, vitamins, amino acids, folic acid and minerals that promote smooth and moisturized hair.
To help keep hair bouncy and full looking, our shampoo also contains Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, which has natural hair volumizing properties, that help to firm or strengthen strands and adds natural shine and highlights to the hair. Hydrolyzed Rice Protein is also good for your scalp, it helps to increase skin and hair’s ability to bind moisture and increase in flexibility. Hydrolyzed Rice Protein also helps to moisturize the scalp and is an anti-irritant, so forget dry, itchy scalp – we don’t know her.
To further help strengthen hair and repair hair damage, we also added Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, which works similarly to keratin, and reduces hair surface damage, while also going deep enough for long-lasting, stronger hair.
Whether blondes have more fun will remain an eternal debate, a fact that can’t be debated is the importance of shine for blonde hair. To help maintain that natural shine and gloss and soft touch, the shampoo also contains Wheat Amino Acids for shiny, soft hair you won’t want to stop touching. Just remember touching your hair often can lead to oily hair, so touch in moderation.
To use Luxy’s Balancing Purple Shampoo, simply apply to wet hair and rinse thoroughly after 3-5 minutes. Follow up with the High-Gloss Smoothing Conditioner.
Whether you’re into DIY hair masks like Cardi B’s self-made kitchen creation hair mask, or have your go-to off the shelf favorites, the diverse array of problems hair masks can treat are endless. Whether it’s dry, damaged, or dull hair – there is a hair mask for that.
We wanted to make a hair mask that would treat the hair from root to ends, intensely moisturizing and conditioning to not only revitalize hair, but protect it. The Length Repairing Hair Mask does just that and more, by leaving hair shiny and silky smooth and soft.
Like our other Wetline Collection products, the star ingredient is Organic Baobab Oil. It also contains Caryocar Brasiliense Fruit Oil which helps to reduce frizziness and combat split ends while adding shine. Due to its fatty acid composition, also helps to treat the scalp by locking moisture into the skin.
To give the Length Repairing Hair Mask an extra moisturizing kick, we added Vitamin B-5, a moisturizing and conditioning agent that restores hair’s resilience, protects against breakage, strengthens hair, smooths hair and helps to reduce split ends.
Our hair mask is also packed with some of our favorite organic oils that naturally boost hair health:
Organic Jojoba Seed Oil – Rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish hair, including Vitamin B, C, E, copper, and zinc. Because it strengthens hair, it is also thought that jojoba oil can prevent hair loss and promote hair thickness.
Organic Coconut Oil – The best oil to use on your hair to reduce protein loss and keep it looking healthy. Coconut Oil reduces protein loss in hair that was undamaged, bleached, chemically treated and UV exposed.
Grape Seed Oil – Leaves hair soft and moisturized and helps restore hair's natural shine and vibrancy.
To get the most out of the Length Repairing Hair Mask, apply to damp hair and leave it in for 15 – 20 minutes. You can also apply a shower cap to lock the moisture in. Rinse the mask out thoroughly. The mask can be used on hair wash days or in between.
As mentioned above, organic oils are super beneficial for hair and even for skin. It can be quickly absorbed into hair or skin and its effects are longer lasting. For those in-between wash days, or just a self-care day anytime of the week, the Luminous Shine Hair Oil can help leave hair feeling smooth and soft, without weighing it down or making it greasy.
Like the name suggests our hair oil helps to maintain the hair’s natural shine and works to detangle hair. As you could probably guess, it wouldn’t be an effective hair oil without the organic ingredient. The Luminous Shine Hair Oil contains Organic Baobab Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Grape Seed Oil and three new ones:
Kukui Nut Oil – The amino acids and essential fatty acids in kukui nut oil penetrate the hair shaft and leave hair looking healthy and moisturized.
Apricot Oil – Obtained from the dried kernels of the apricot tree, this is a lightweight oil that is rich in Vitamins A, E, and essential fatty acids.
Caryocar Brasiliense Fruit Oil – In hair care products, this oil will help to reduce frizziness and combat split ends while adding shine. Due to its fatty acid composition, it has excellent occlusive properties enabling it to act as a skin conditioning agent by preventing excessive loss of moisture through the skin.
This hair oil is perfect for natural hair, color-treated hair and even your hair extensions. Simply apply 1 to 2 drops to damp or dry hair, before or after styling.
No other hair habit causes more daily damage than heat styling. The best way to reduce the damage from heat styling including, heat styling less often and lowering the temperature on your curling iron or straightening iron – when styling your hair extensions with a heat styling tool, we recommend setting your tool at 120C/250F degrees or lower. Another way to help prevent heat styling damage is to apply a heat protectant.
Unlike some heat protectants, Luxy’s Heat Protectant Primer comes in a convenient spray bottle. It’s a lightweight, styling microemulsion spray that reduces drying time while also protecting from thermal-styling damage and color-fade.
The Heat Protectant Primer’s job isn’t done after you turn off your styling tool, it provides light hold throughout the day, leaving hair manageable and soft with less frizz for curly and straight hairstyles.
[article handle="bentonite-clay-for-hair"]
The primer contains a thermal protection up to 450°F and helps to keep your hair manageable and super conditioned, which combats heat damage.
The protectant spray also contains Multifaceted Microemulsion, which helps to retain color for both temporary and permanent hair dyes and enhances color luminosity. It also helps to get deep and penetrate the hair cuticle to offer deep conditioning.
For our wavy or curly hair girls, the Heat Protectant Primer spray has curl control, which provides hold without stiffness or dullness. It helps keep your curls bouncy and helps to hold curls longer without the frizz.
To use the primer, spray liberally throughout damp hair before heat styling as needed.
All our new products have a light Moroccan Argan scent – just another added benefit to healthy hair – smelling nice too. We’ve packed our hair essentials with trusted organic ingredients that have lasting effects on hair health. Whether you’re trying out Luxy’s line of products or exploring natural products for your healthy hair routine, be sure to review ingredients carefully. Switching up your hair products every few months is also a good way to see what your hair needs – you may notice some benefits that may have been missing before. Long story short, you don’t have to stick to the same old routine – your hair will thank you for it.

When it comes to hairstyles, Dua Lipa is the queen of mixing it up. The British-Albanian singer’s hair evolution has produced hit after hit, including many top hair trends in London. From the chin-length bob she wore during the ‘New Rules’ era to her signature Dua Lipa blonde hair and the chunky platinum blonde highlights debuted for ‘Future Nostalgia’ in 2019, Lipa’s hair never stays the same for long. The star has also been spotted with a retro beehive, fiery orange wig, and long, shiny black waves in 2021. During lockdown, she dyed her E-girl bangs a variety of playful shades, including pastel pink.
To start off 2022, Lipa shared a picture of tie-dye hair on her Instagram. The creative hairstyle features the singer’s classic two-tone color, with a bleached blonde layer over her natural dark brown. Colorful orange and green swirls are placed over the blonde to create a unique, psychedelic tie-dye effect. The photo currently has over 4,000,000 likes on Instagram, and shows all the signs of starting one of the year’s hottest hairstyle trends. If you feel like getting creative with your look, head to the hairdresser for some tie-dye swirls and Dua Lipa hair.

Bridgerton is officially back and we are already obsessed with the Sharma sisters! Especially with Kate Sharma's enemies to lovers storyline with Lord Anthony Bridgerton.
The entire Bridgerton cast is giving us so many enviable hairstyles to pin this year but nothing beats Ashley's simple and regal updo. This sleek updo reflects the practical nature of her character and appears effortless and sophisticated.
You can add extra fullness to your bun with a hair bun extension and achieve some soft romantic tendrils with a curling wand for that regency core vibe.

While promoting her latest album, 30, Adele debuted beautiful long, cinnamon-blonde tresses. The new look features a middle part and blonde, face-framing highlights to brighten up her face, along with Rapunzel-approved length. To get Adele's hair color, start by dyeing a few pieces of hair around your face a lighter shade. This is a subtle way to brighten skin and make facial features pop, making it one of the top hair trends for 2022.
Over the years, Adele has made plenty of hair statements. At the start of her career, the British singer wore her auburn locks in retro, ‘60s-inspired styles with lots of volume at the crown of her head. (You can use our velcro rollers to get the same voluminous look). After gradually lightening up her hair with honey tones, she wore everything from glamorous old Hollywood waves to tousled bobs. In 2020, she took her hair to new lengths for a performance on SNL, which got everyone talking. While Adele’s locks are reportedly au naturel as the singer spent time growing out her hair during quarantine, you can easily use hair extensions to achieve the same amazing length in 2022.

When you think of Lily Collins’ hair, long, glossy brown waves might be the first thing that comes to mind. However, the Emily in Paris star has a few other hair looks up her stylish sleeves. From an icy blonde pixie cut to a short and sweet bob, the actress is a true hair chameleon.
Most recently, Collins debuted trés chic bangs while promoting the new season of Emily in Paris. The new eye-catching fringe style (nicknamed ‘French bangs’) is from hairstylist Gregory Russell, who also works with stars like Anna Taylor-Joy and Hailee Steinfeld. Kelly Rowland was also seen sporting the romantic hairstyle on Instagram. Collins’ long and thin bangs are super flattering for a variety of different face shapes and hair types, making them sure to be one of the most popular hair trends in London. Plus, thanks to the way these bangs are cut, they will grow out quickly and you won’t be stuck with the style for long. If you still aren’t ready to make the commitment to bangs just yet, you can always try out clip-in bangs first to see how the style looks.

Named Amazon’s Breakthrough Artist of 2021, singer Olivia Dean has a bright future ahead of her. The East London native’s soulful songs are quickly gaining a large fan base and she’s set to have a busy year of making music and touring. In addition to her jazzy tunes, Dean is also known for her cool hairstyles. Her Instagram is filled with amazingly long ponytail braids that reach well beyond the floor, as well as pretty box braid styles with gold hair clips. For her latest EP, Growth, Dean wears her braids swept into a show stopping updo, decorated with bright flowers and greenery.
For 2022, box braid updos are set to be one of the hottest hair trends, especially box braid buns. Stars like Alicia Keys, Keke Palmer, Zendaya, Beyoncé, Zoe Kravitz, and Amandla Sternberg have all been spotted rocking a version of this protective style.

While Amal Clooney is known for her signature polished blowout and bouncy brunette waves, the British-Lebanese barrister still knows how to switch things up every once in a while. Just take a look at the romantic lob cut she wore to the Venice International Film Festival in 2017 with her husband, George Clooney. The timeless hairstyle features a deep side part and elegant curls. The star also wore a tousled lob to a red carpet premiere in 2016, with a loose front curl.
Lobs, which are longer bobs typically hitting at or above the shoulders, are perfect for people who want a change without going too short in length. This 2022 hair trend flatters everyone, regardless of face shape, hair texture or length, and you won’t have to go through an awkward grow-out phase. Straight, wavy, or curly, lobs always look effortlessly chic. If you’ve had a lob on your mind, now’s the time to make a chop!

If you’ve been wanting to grow out your curtain bangs, you’re in luck. One of the top hair trends in London for 2022 is long, ‘70s-inspired drapes, just like the ones worn by British model and content creator Annabelle Hoy. Vintage fringe styles like this have been quite popular in recent years and it looks like they are here to stay. The retro, face-framing pieces make cheekbones pop and can be worn parted in the middle or to the side, depending on your preference. Drapes are super versatile and work well with longer layers or ponytail styles if you want to tie your hair up. Whether you have short or thin hair, or just want to transform your look, our curly ponytail extension collection is a great option.
Other ‘70s-inspired looks to watch out for this year include massive volume, feathered bangs like the ones made famous by actress Farrah Fawcett and long, shiny hair inspired by Cher. Embrace your inner flower child and opt for one of these carefree hairstyles this year.

From textured waves and buzz cuts to pastel colors and slick bobs, Michaela Coel can truly do it all. The I May Destroy You star has a long list of iconic hairstyles under her belt, many of which broke the internet and launched popular trends. Since she rose to fame in the series Chewing Gum, the British actress, writer, and director has become known for mixing up her fashion and beauty looks. Who can forget the slicked back bob she wore to the 2021 BAFTAs or the Bantu knots and twists she rocked? Coel also famously shaved her head to draw attention to the lack of representation in romantic roles of dark-skinned women with short hair.
One of Coel’s most show-stopping looks was when she served up afro perfection for Garage Magazine in 2020. The actress also sported an afro in the past for red carpet looks and award ceremonies. Classic afro cuts like Coel’s are predicted to be back in style for 2022, and we couldn’t be happier. This style is relatively low-maintenance and easy to take care of, plus it’s super stylish for any occasion. Just be sure to give your locks plenty of moisture to stop frizz in its tracks. Products like Manketti oil and deep conditioning masks are good options.
[instagram id="CYtlpcQt6w9"]
Actress Sophie Turner may be known for her signature blonde locks, but she warmed up to a fiery red color in 2021. The Game of Thrones star was spotted rocking copper hair when out at a baseball game with husband Joe Jonas, and later in a Louis Vuitton ad on her Instagram. Game of Thrones fans might remember Turner with red hair during her time playing Sansa Stark on the show. Turner dyed her blonde locks to match Sansa’s auburn hair.
Turner is not the only one seeing red these days. Vibrant shades of red are expected to be one of the top color trends for 2022, especially for those hoping to stand out from the crowd. If you’ve been wanting to mix things up and go for a bold new color, take notes from Hadid and book an appointment with your colorist. We also have hair extensions for redheads, so you can still take your styles to great lengths with your new color.
[instagram id="CZZy5pevM2d"]
Bobs of all shapes and sizes are predicted to be on-trend for 2022, especially British actress Gemma Chan’s effortlessly chic bob with bangs look. As much as we appreciate ultra-long locks and flowing waves, chin-length styles are having a major moment. One of the most popular bob styles this year is the bi-bob, which features heavier lines and silhouettes to highlight eyes and cheekbones. To style, you’ll want to give hair a straight and flat finish, but make sure it doesn’t look too perfect (take some styling cues from Chan).
Other short and sweet bobs popping up include carved and textured versions of the style, as well as the boy bob, which is slightly shorter than the average bob and has a masculine edge (get inspired from your favorite ‘90s boy band). There’s also the European bob, which is a short cut that reaches to about lip level. Incredibly versatile, it looks great on all face shapes and requires minimal styling. And since it’s meant for air drying, you can easily cut back on your heat styling and prevent damage like frizz and breakage.

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams proves that the modern-day mullet is here to stay with her cool cut from Bleach London hair salon. The actress rocks a layered chop with face-framing pieces that make her eyes pop. In the past, Williams has switched things up with a chic brown bob, pink hair, and even bleached eyebrows, making her almost completely unrecognizable from her Arya Stark.
While you may have thought this rebellious hairstyle was only worn by bikers and aging rockers, badass celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Irina Shayk, and Billie Eilish have all taken the mullet for a spin and given it a modern update. Today’s mullet is more low-key and wearable, with shaggier sides and full fringe. Plus, it doesn’t take much styling to make it shine. Simply add some texturizer or pomade and you’re ready to rock. If you’ve grown bored of your beachy waves or go-to look, a mullet is the perfect way to mix things up in 2022.

[instagram id="CUFcx-BIlz0"]
Want a fresh start? Take inspiration from British model Iris Law and try out a punk-inspired buzz cut. In 2021, the star debuted a beautiful, bleached buzz cut in British Vogue, and the trend-worthy look caused quite a stir. Later, she shaved a heart design into one side. Now, the buzz is back for 2022, with tons of celebrities going for super-short cuts. Cynthia Erivo, Zoe Kravitz, Saweetie, and Jordan Alexander are just a few of the many stars who keep their hair buzzed close to the scalp.
Shaving your head might sound scary, but this style works for all hair textures, pesky receding hairlines, and is actually a super liberating experience. Not to mention that it makes it super easy to try out new hair colors and make-up looks, and makes your natural features shine. Ready to reach for those clippers? It’s best to first cut your hair as close to the scalp as possible with scissors before shaving. This will stop hair from getting caught in the clippers. Then, grab your clippers and start shaving! You may need the help of a friend or stylist to help ensure that the cut is even on all sides. To take your buzz to the next level, use it as a canvas for some fun color or add artistic designs like Law.
Thanks to some viral TikTok videos and a slew of people willing to join in on this trendy scalp health experimentation, more and more people seem to be thrilled with the results they’re seeing after applying hyaluronic acid to their tresses. And, much like those who have tried our Seamless Hair Extensions or Classic Volume Bundles, they can’t wait to show off their gorgeous new locks for the rest of the world to see. But is it all a big coincidence, or is there actually something to this theory of hyaluronic acid for hair?
If you’re interested in soft hair that you can’t help but want to touch (not to mention constantly check out in your compact mirror), read on to learn all you need to know about hyaluronic acid for hair and why you may benefit from a little boost yourself.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, found mostly in the fluids of the eyes and joints. It can also be made synthetically. In the past it has been used as a medicine for things like joint disorders and urinary tract infections, as well as to treat swelling, inflammation and cataracts.
In terms of beauty products, hyaluronic acid is a humectant, which is a moisturizing agent. Other humectants you may be more familiar with from the world of hair care products include polyethylene or propylene glycols. Basically, humectants are substances that attract and trap water, and are found in plenty of skin and haircare lines.
Traditionally, hyaluronic acid has been a skincare humectant, but as the “skinification” of hair increases in popularity, this moisturizing secret in hair care products has also grown in fame.
The skinification of hair. Basically that means the way we now look at treating common hair ailments. In the past, hair care has typically focused on treating our locks and nourishing the growth that has already occurred. But in recent years we’ve turned our attention towards scalp care, with the theory that healthy hair starts from the root. Or, to go back to that term skinification again, it means taking care of the skin on our head the way we do the skin on the rest of our bodies.
That’s why we’re turning to new tools like scalp massagers, better overall hair care routines, and even hair-and-scalp-boosting vitamins that start from the base of the problem, helping us to grow our best head of hair yet.
[article handle="vitamins-hair-loss"]
All early evidence points to yes. This past summer after TikToker Katilyn Boyer shared a video showcasing her jaw-dropping results using the stuff on her hair, many others quickly did the same. Now, dermatologists are weighing in with their own praise for the stuff.
“Hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant, which means it holds onto about 1,000 times its weight in water,” explained dermatologist Dr. Muneeb Shah on TikTok after Boyer’s video went viral. “By holding onto water it serves as an amazing moisturizer for the hair and the skin. This hack is particularly good with dry or damaged hair, swimmers that are exposed to a lot of chlorine, people that use damaging shampoos, and it’s safe for colour-treated hair.”
Hyaluronic acid is typically good for all hair types and textures, but it is especially helpful for those with dry, damaged and brittle hair. Those with frizzy hair may also love the way their tresses feel after applying hyaluronic acid for a few days, as it tends to work with your natural locks and doesn’t weigh down curls the way that some other products can.
However, those with fine hair may want to start any new hair care routines involving hyaluronic acid sparingly. Too much of the product may weigh down fine tresses, so a little could go a long way. The best way to know what works for you is to experiment.
Because hyaluronic acid works a bit like a sponge in that it absorbs water, it’s important to always start with wet hair—throwing product on dry tresses won’t add extra moisture to those locks. In fact, putting hyaluronic acid on dry hair could actually have the opposite effect: it could pull coveted moisture out of your hair and wind up drying it out even more.
If you’re looking to incorporate pure hyaluronic acid into your hair care routine, you can do so in one of two ways. Gently massage it onto wet or damp hair after you step out of the shower, working the product from the root down. Or, for better scalp health apply it to a wet scalp while in the shower before shampooing, working it all over your scalp with circular motions and then into the hair itself.
One of the biggest reasons people seem to love hyaluronic acid for hair is that it appears to be pretty interchangeable with all kinds of other products. That means you can easily incorporate it into your routine without having to switch too much else up.
You can even use it as the first layer in your styling routine. Work it evenly into tresses from the scalp-to-tip and then carry on with the rest of your hair prep as per usual. Easy peasy, right?
[article handle="hair-products-101"]
Great ones, if anecdotal evidence has anything to say about it. But more specifically:
Hydration: Within a few days your hair should feel softer and more manageable as your tresses lock in and retain all of that coveted moisture you’ve been lacking.
Smoothness: Hyaluronic acid is also said to help seal damaged hair cuticles, which means your hair may soon begin to feel less frizzy.
Added volume: As your hair begins to retain more moisture and the cuticles on your follicles seal, your hair may also appear plumper and more voluminous.
A healthy scalp: By using hyaluronic acid as a dry scalp treatment and massaging it into your scalp as well as your tresses, you may notice that your head also feels more moisturized. That’s especially beneficial during the colder months, when dry scalp, dandruff and flaking tend to be more prominent problems.
Ready to incorporate this trending ingredient into your own hair-care routine? It’s important to either go for concentrated hyaluronic acid serums (with no additives) or hair-specific products that tout hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate, which is another word for the substance.
Also try and avoid using skin care products with hyaluronic acid on your hair and scalp. Not only may they contain other ingredients that won’t be beneficial for your hair, but they also tend to be more costly. And no one wants to run up a bill for no good reason.
If you’re looking for 100 per cent pure hyaluronic acid serum, this bottle is a solid bet. It’s also 100 per cent vegan (unlike some synthetic products, which contain phenoxyethanol), free from harsh chemicals, and comes with a full refund guarantee if you’re not happy with the product. If you’re dipping your toes in the hyaluronic acid game this is a good place to start, since you can also use this stuff on your skin.
This bottle contains three type of hyaluronic acid (they vary at the molecular level) with the addition of Vitamin B5, which has also been linked to hair growth. Whether you’re looking at better scalp health, considering a dry scalp treatment, or just into the idea of softer tresses, this product is another solid base from which to start.
If you want to simplify the hyaluronic acid for hair care process, reach for an inexpensive bottle of shampoo that has already added the ingredient for you. Users report that after switching to this shampoo, their locks feels softer and their scalps feel healthier, and overall they all seem to agree that their hair has basically come back to life.
If you tend to use a lot of heat during your styling process, then you may benefit from this heat-protecting oil mist, which comes with a dose of—you guessed it!—hyaluronic acid. Spray it evenly onto wet tresses before blow-drying and help to retain your hair’s natural moisture, shine and volume.
If you have thinning hair give it a one-two boost with this biotin and hyaluronic acid-infused thickening spray. Not only does it promote hair growth from the scalp while hydrating and nourishing, but it also cuts down on dandruff and frizz.
Take scalp health into your own hands, literally, with this leave-in conditioner that’s infused with two hair “superfoods:” coconut oil and hyaluronic acid. It’s perfect for taming frizz and treating split ends while injecting extra moisture and softness into those locks.
In need of a whole new shampoo and conditioning routine in order to reset those dry locks and add some much-needed moisture back into your life? This combo set is full of naturally derived plant extracts, keratin and hyaluronic acid to take back control of unruly frizz and inject hair follicles with all the moisture they truly deserve. It’s a formula that promotes accelerated and silkier hair growth, which is probably something we can all get behind.
If you’re looking for a hair mask that’s organic and cruelty-free, this one will leave you feeling good from the inside out. The mask is made with avocado, coconut oil and of course hyaluronic acid to help you procure a head of hair that’s smoother, fuller, and intensely moisturized. Now what’s not to love about that?

Considering some women begin to find gray hairs in their twenties (or in some cases even earlier), isn’t it about time we embrace what our mommas gave us? There’s something liberating—not to mention fashionable!—about just letting it grow out already. It’s a hot topic of conversation, too. Take the return of Miranda Hobbes on the Sex And The City revival, And Just Like That, for example. In her fifties, the former lawyer was embracing her grays, and it was a full-blown discussion between her, Charlotte, and many passionate online fans.
[instagram id="CZN2X6ZlySv"]
Meanwhile, in real life, celebrities are embracing their natural looks in a whole new way as well. The Walking Dead star Melissa McBride has beautiful white locks, Chrissy Teigen has chatted at length about her awesome gray streaks, and stars like Katie Holmes and Jessica Biel have even strutted their salt and pepper hair at awards shows in recent years.
[instagram id="CXufLNWsN6O"]
The haircare industry is also getting in on the trend. Stylists are snipping up shorter styles that help embrace the grow-out phase, products that keep white hues looking fresh and sleek are popping up on shelves, and more experts are speaking out on proper gray hair maintenance.
At Luxy, we’ve expanded our shade selection to include two new light gray and dark gray hues that are perfect for embracing your grays while giving the appearance of naturally fuller and luxurious hair. Whether you’re looking for a ponytail extension, a clip-in bun, or extensions from our Halo and Seamless collection, we’ve got you covered. Read on to learn why and how you too can embrace this gray hair revolution, plus we’ve got some suggestions on how to style that natural new hair with some of our favorite products.
[article handle="how-to-go-grey"]
It used to be that only men were applauded for their distinguished, salt and pepper hairstyles. But these days it’s women who are showing off their natural looks in empowering new ways.
From TV shows and movies, to high fashion catwalks, to people we know and chat to in our everyday lives, it’s clear that more and more women are embracing their gray hair. In fact, the term “white hair” no longer conjures up the image of a grandmother or a questionable cat lady; instead we’re seeing younger models, powerful professionals, and everyday women prove just how beautiful gray hair can be—at any age.
[instagram id="B8B8hX7AnnS"]
We love a good touch-up or balayage as much as the next person, and embracing your gray hair doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re never going to touch a bottle of color again. However, there is something to be said about the money you can save by skipping out on expensive highlights and other hair salon treatments by letting your natural tresses shine. Plus, after all those years of touching up your roots, wouldn’t it be nice to just skip all of that muss and fuss? Even though you’ll probably miss your hairdresser, just think of all the time you’ll save by not having to visit them every single month during those maintenance visits.
Money and time aside, not dyeing your hair as frequently as you used to is undeniably good for your actual hair and scalp. Even though the formulas that we’ve got in salons these days are infinitely friendlier on your hair, they still cause some breakage and damage every time you use them. Gray hairs are particularly prone to damage by these kinds of dyes since gray hair follicles are void of melanin (the naturally occurring chemical that gives your hair pigmentation in the first place). Plus, strand cuticles themselves are thinner. A thinner cuticle means hair is less protected against water, UV rays, humidity, heat styling and—you guessed it!—chemicals. So as you begin to notice more grays in your life, embracing them instead of hiding them will actually be entirely healthier for your hair in the long-run.
[instagram id="B_AVzGzjjMI"]
Your first instinct may be to hide your gray hair because you feel as though it makes you look old. However that’s not necessarily the case. Darker hair tends to highlight facial features even more than lighter hair does, which is why salt and pepper hair may actually soften your overall look. If you want to get the most out of your new, natural tresses, work with your hairstylist to inject moisture and light-reflecting metallic and silver gray shades into your mane. It’s flattering, and when paired with a softer cut that frames the face, it can be totally youthful as well—especially in terms of hairstyles for women over 50.
[instagram id="B79Gg32AScp"]
Look, at the end of the day women should do what makes them look and feel good, and every woman is different. However, if you’re tired of chasing away gray hairs and feel as though you’ve spent way too much time, money, and effort on maintaining the same hair colour for the past several years, you wouldn’t be alone. These days there are tons of social media support groups for women who have embraced their gray hair and haven’t looked back since. Not only are these women liberated from the pressures of keeping up an impossible battle, but they’re also taking a stance on the long-standing double standard between men and women as they age. If you too are tired of all that, then embracing your salt and pepper hair will probably be downright freeing for you, too.
When you first notice a gray hair, it can seem as though it sprouted up overnight. By the time you decide to embrace it, it’s likely you’ve got some good streaks going on throughout your entire coif. So surely, once you let go, that gray hair will just come in already, right? Not necessarily. Your hair is going to do its own thing, and everybody’s thing is different. It can take months or even years for your hair to go completely gray, so it can be helpful to remember that this is a transition and not a total 180.
[instagram id="B_49t5vgRiY"]
If you’re not a fan of that streaky look or you want to add some depth and texture to your gray hair as you transition, the best thing to do is to find a stylist that is willing to work with you and who will help you to come up with an overall game plan. In some cases that may mean chopping off longer hair and embracing a softer bob, in other instances your stylist may recommend metallic or silver highlights or a balayage to help bridge the gap. Either way it’s important to know you’ve got options, and a stylist is the best person to help you explore them.
When going gray, you may be surprised to learn the lineup of products sitting on your bathroom shelves will probably change as well. That’s because gray hair has a different composition than pigmented hair; it’s got a thinner cuticle wall and no melanin, which makes it more prone to damage. Plus, much like blonde tresses, gray hair can dull or lose its sheen, so selecting products that are meant to moisturize and plump up gray hair can be super beneficial to your overall hair and scalp health.
[instagram id="B-kEA0fDWJs"]
Even though salt and pepper hair is one of the biggest trends in haircare right now, that doesn’t mean there aren’t those who judge. But when in life are you ever not going to be judged? People will always have opinions, so remember that if you’re doing you, then you’re on the right path. However, if someone does say something about your hair that gets you down, remember there are a ton of support groups out there.
A good place to start is Grombre, the Instagram account dedicated to the natural phenomenon of gray hair. The account showcases myriad women who aren’t just embracing, but who are rocking the look. There’s always strength in numbers, so if you’re feeling like you need a bit of a confidence boost, seek out others who are also doing their own gray hair thing.
If you’ve decided to embrace this powerful gray hair transition, why not embrace total change? If you’ve always had long hair, perhaps you’ll want to try a shorter hairstyle on for size? Or if you’ve always had mid-length hair, maybe now is the time to see how much you’ll love those gray hair extensions you’ve always dreamed about. Not a fan of the stark contrast between white and brown? Opt for a softer shade of blonde to keep the bottom brighter as your new locks grow in. The point is that if you’re going to go for it, go for it. You can experiment with hair as much as you can with any other beauty trend, and these days there are so many nifty tools and products out there that the sky really is the limit.

Experts used to say that gray hair was best kept above the shoulders, but these days we’re seeing plenty of models and real-life women who are keeping salt and pepper hair long and luscious with applaudable results. If you’re worried about thinning or breaking hair and want to keep your natural gray hair shorter though, you can still add length with clip-in hair extensions. They’re a great way to experiment with different looks, plus we’ve got light and dark gray hues to perfectly match all of your gray hair needs. Want to add curls as well? Try out our budget-friendly Velcro hair rollers.
If you have thinning hair, or tresses that break after showering without the aid of a detangling wet hairbrush, a soft and short shoulder-length style may be the way to go—especially if you’re not quite ready for a trendier pixie cut. That’s because shorter styles weigh less and can give the appearance of fuller hair. Besides, if you want to add volume and a bit of length afterwards, that’s always easy to do with our Halo Hair Extensions. They’re made from 100 per cent straight Remy human hair and are specifically designed for fine-to-medium hair that’s about bust-length.
Bouncy ponies are no longer for women in their twenties and early thirties. In fact we love the look of a soft and shimmery gray hair ponytail, which is easy to achieve in a matter of minutes. Get your own fuss-free ponytail with our clip-in ponytail extensions, which add instant volume and length on those days when you just can’t be bothered to wash your hair.
Sometimes you just don’t have time to style your hair, which is where our favourite “mom buns” come in handy. Of course you don’t have to actually be a mom to embrace the look, especially on those days when you just didn’t have time to style your tresses. Throw your gray hair up in the air like you just don’t care with our posh and practical clip-in buns, which add instant volume and glam to even the most standard of styles.
